Mazda's new oil: Not happy

For 10 yrs I have put only their oil w/Moly bought in case of 12 from Med Center. Now - no more and ended up getting scammed by a company metro24 who said they have the old one but sent me the new one.

I know how my engine sounds, behaves, etc.

Now that I put this new one - engine "growling more", "sounding more" and even "hesitating a tad longer". Basically - sucks. Mileage - zero improvement, in fact I'll say dropped even.

@bmninada,

We can't really judge the efficacy of an oil based only on how it sounds. That said, what you describe doesn't sound normal.

I recommend a GF-6 or GF-7 oil (API SP or later) and not to rely on the Mazda oil. Don't worry, it's not the only good oil out there.

Formulas change. I'd rather use new stuff than new old stock.

Your car sounds like it's a total loss now, send it to the junkyard and upgrade to a new one. Or just stop fussing.

Agreed. Replaced with Penzoil platinum. Seems to show an improvement. Will revert after a day.

I will try for a day with Penzoil. But 1 good thing is I don’t have you as my mechanic.

If engine oil caused the engine to "growling more", "sounding more" and even "hesitating a tad longer" plus “decreased mileage”… I would wonder if that stuff was even engine oil.

Wait, you are going to run Pennzoil Platinum for one day, and then what? Just run it for 5,000 miles.
As usual you are absolutely right. No joking. I noticed small improvement but it can be perception. Once I drive around 500 miles will revert.

Please be kind and tip your mechanic well for dealing with "my car is sounding more" troubleshooting
I didn’t tell him. As will look odd. Just told him to dump and replace. He did. Only thing I kept was the brand new OEM filter.

Ok, I'm picking up on a potential language issue. You said revert: that means you will do another oil change after 1 day, or after 500 miles. But I think you meant to write report?
