2018 CX-5 GT Transmission Replaced - High pitched whine

The noises you two are describing don't seem the same to me.

The "high pitched whine" at highway speeds (accelerating from 40-60 mph) is normal for these cars.

The whining noise that occurs while parked is not normal. That is the one you should spend your efforts figuring out. I hope it isn't the bearing issue I've read about. Good luck.

I took my car to Mazda today, and they confirmed that the constant whistle-like noise is coming from the transmission. They also discovered that the rear differential needs to be replaced, along with several other issues. Mazda recorded a video of their findings and provided a detailed list.

If I were to cover everything out of pocket, the total would be around $15,000—$7,300 for the transmission replacement and $4,800 for the rear differential.

I bought this vehicle just a month ago from a used car dealer and purchased an extended warranty that’s still active. I’ll be handling the repairs through the warranty, but the catch is that they require the work to be done at an “in-network” repair shop.

You'd better get a second opinion on that. How was it determined the rear differential is faulty?

I was hearing a noise from the back of the vehicle when driving, but I didn't tell them anything about it. After the inspection they told me that the rear differential needs to be replaced and then asked me if was also hearing a noise from the back of the vehicle. heres a video they recorded:
