Using Android Auto via USB Only, Not Bluetooth

Long story short, I want to connect my Android phone to the vehicle via USB only, not via bluetooth. Every time I use Android Auto, the Mazda turns the bluetooth on the phone back on. Is that possible? If so, what are the exact steps/settings? TIA

Try deleting the car-phone bluetooth connection (either on your phone or the car or both).

I don't think it's possible but if it did allow it, you'd live with the trade-off of no audio.

My point is the audio is sent over Bluetooth.

Ahh, well, I was partly right. Bluetooth is NOT used for audio, but it IS used in the Android Auto setup, even if using wired connection (apparently). Seems bizarre, but that's what this says:

The article states that Bluetooth does not have the bandwidth for audio. That is completely false. How out of touch with the tech world must you be to make that statement?
