Once it starts to get dark, just change it. If it's really dark, drop the pan.
It should be done every 80-100k km. It's not rocket science.

When you dropped the plan to change the filter on yours, did you also replace the two rubber rings inside?
Sorry, which rings are you referring to? My mechanic did it, but I curiously watched most of the process.

These two rings floating above the filter. Gonna order them anyway, and 16 pan bolts. Can't wait to see how nasty the pan bottom is.

Turns out these cars have a Metal transmission pan! For starters you got a little spot in the corner for your nice big pan magnet, which you can see at the top of the pan. Mileage was at around 103,000 miles when the service was done. I don't think the bottom of the pan looks too dirty for the...

Here's what mine looked like at around 103,000miles..
Experienced mechanic had it done in about an hour, maybe 1.5hr tops. hard to say for certain. I wouldn't expect longer than 2 hours.
