2025 CX-5 vs New 2026 model!?

Everything about this is online theorycrafting at this point :)

But I agree. Mazda has great engineers and I'm sure the industry is well aware.

What I want to know is, can we get the 2025 TCU programming for our '23s.

By the way, your images are tough to post because they are actually small videos rather than still images.
I literally just bought a 2025 CX-5 Premium Plus (non turbo) yesterday. I did my homework and knew of most of the upgrades before purchasing the Plus. Test drove the turbo, but at 72 years old I no longer need to be first in line at the next stop sign. One of the best features is the HUD - Head Up Display. I know it’s called something else in Mazda land but can’t think of it, cause I’m 72! I had this feature in my 2015 C7 Corvette. 10 years later I get to experience it again. Now if this CX-5 could do 0 to 60 in 3.2 seconds Mazda would have a beast!

Gusto!

Been driving our new CX-5 Premium Plus (non-turbo) for 3 weeks now. Slowly getting better with the infotainment system. I must say, the learning curve is steady. I really like the knob over the touch screen using apple CarPlay. I’ve even used the paddle shifters in sport mode. Does it leave everyone in the dust? No, but it is fun to punch the go pedal between rad lights.

My wife and I are both retired. Typically we don’t have back seat passengers. The technology is just simple enough without feeling overwhelmed. Bottom line, sometimes it takes a little to figure out if you’ve made a good decision. In the purchase it was the perfect choice!!

Every day I’m getting more comfortable driving. It’s starting to become second nature as my a$$ slowly has become part of the overall driving experience. Like wearing a comfortable pair of jeans, it just feels right!

Gusto!

I too purchased the same version just 4 short days after you. Love it throughout, and the headlights are amazing coming from a 2019 Ridgeline, although the Toyos came flat spotted going back in next week to see what they can do.

Not according to this guy.

"After driving the 2025 Premium Plus for about 3 months and 2800 miles, I am pleased to report it has lost nothing from 2022 to 2025. It rides just as smooth, the engine is just as peppy, and fuel economy is nearly the same. Maybe economy is a hair down but it is winter so expected. The only difference between the 2022 and 2025 is the 2025 has i-stop. "
There are up to 11/23 builds and 11/24 and after - changes made 11/24 +

Im not just blowing smoke here - cuz i got a new 25 - Im trying to tip off anyone considering one before the 26s roll out - On the 25 transmission - its so precise i literally have learned that incrimental adaptations to the gas pedal - deliver a consistent rapid predictable gear change like none before-its a scalpel once you learn it -.no more pushing hard to get tge lower gear -. -.My guess is this new collaboration with Toyota might be where Toyota gave Mazda some of this technology -as Toyota is using Mazdas inline -6 T for thier upcoming sports coupe -and Mazdas making the same car under thier name - For Toyota to take Mazdas inline -6 T - complete drivetrain for a leading new sports cars - says a hellova lot about Mazdas engineering - as well in the 26s Mazda hybrid drive are taken from Toyota - but still using skyactive engines/. big stuff -Mazdas will get expensive here very soon - 25 is a pivotal year -not unlike 2012-3 when skyactive launched - So the 25 CX5s are going to be - well the last of the old design -try to post mine here - might be to much pixels
The word I have been hearing is that the hybrid system on the next CX-5 will be a Mazda designed system and not the Toyota hybrid system.

yes - interesting " PR " spin - as the CX-50 was IMO the guinea pig for the collaboration of the technology interface / thus making it the scapegoat - if its not " Toyotas tech- i suppose it fell out ofvthe sky- nothing on this is offical Mazda corporatc info/. fake pr - ? i believe its Toyotas /. they couldnt know if a high compression engine would cooperate with am updated proprietary 1st gen hybrid apparatus - and Mazda brilliantly didnt put the big bread winners reputation on the line to find out - if the CX-50 hybrid had failed , it would have been quickly buried and forgotten - we will see

I believe Mazda makes yearly unannounced / or acknowledged tech changes thus reflashing a 23 TCU may prove problematic / maybe not /. + theres 2 iterstions of which pre 11/23 - post 11/24 - the 11/24 being the most cutrent- imo

Got the flat spot tire replaced and road force balanced, much better now. I can actually focus on the features again. Starting to fit more like a glove each day I drive. So far when I fill up averaging about 30 MPGs doing the math the old way. Infotainment shows between 32-34 MPGs.

Mazda may delay the new CX-5 in the US until the tariff situation is resolved, with the US ramping up more production the the CX-50. An interview this week with Mazda’s CFO mentioned that they may stop selling the CX-50 in Canada and Mexico to help support this.

That would help with the rollout of the new CX-5 in Canada as well as elsewhere.

Why would they?
I could see Mazda sell the CX-50 mainly as a hybrid at a $1-2k premium over the current price. Then they could introduce the new CX-5 as a premium CUV as it likely has an 8sp auto and multi-link suspension. I don’t think we will see a base CX-5 due to the tariff. The Mazda interview mentioned that are looking at lessening the impact of the Tariffs on the CX-30, so any extra margin on the CX-50 hybrid would help to offset that.

Just read that Mazda will eat $100 million in taxes and not raise prices for cars already on lots in the U.S.

Maybe I am missing something here. Why would they raise the price for cars already on lots? These cars have not cleared US Customs? Maybe I don't understand how the process works.

Not sure. Here's what I read from https://www.thestreet.com/automotive/japanese-carmaker-takes-drastic-action-amid-u-s-trade-war

This week, Mazda sent a letter to its U.S. dealers informing them that it would not raise its sticker prices or tack on import fees for any vehicles already on dealership lots or that will come into the country before May 1.

The company expects tariffs to "have a significant negative impact" on the industry and its business and is working to reduce costs elsewhere.

The company will absorb about $100 million in tariff-related costs in April.

right but some of Mazda spare parts prices went up just in time :)
Sadly the end customer will absorb any increases from the tariffs. So more "inflation"
