Need advice on 2020 CX-5 Signature purchase

I am planning to buy a 2020 CX-5 Signature model. I have scheduled an appointment for a full inspection at a Mazda showroom. However, I am concerned because it already has 89K mileage, and it is quoted at 31K CAD before taxes. Is this a good deal if everything checks out in the inspection?

I test drove it and noticed significant road noise on the highway, which I have asked them to check during the inspection. I would like to hear from people who have owned a Mazda, as this will be my first Mazda purchase.

How are the tires and what kind are they?

Tires passed the dealer inspection but it looked like the threads were worn out.. When we asked to the dealer he said that will replace the tires if that is a concern for us. That is another reason we booed an appointment for inspection in Mazda service center.

Price seems high.
With that mileage they would be selling around 21k in the US.
At 23k you would get a vehicle with considerable less mileage than 89k.

Price is in Canadian dollars (hence, the "CAD"). Almost everything in Canada costs more here than in the USA. Not to mention the used car market is still crazy here.

For 31k you should check Auto Trader as it has other listings with less kms on signature trims.

You should definitely be able to find something better.

Understand price diff. About 30% compared to USD. So the vehicle should cost you about 29K.
You should have some wiggle room on price.

Did you negotiate on price?

I have searched on that as well. Everything goes above 35k .. I live in Calgary but i searched for Edmonton as well.. Most of the cases are same.. In Toronto prices seems to be less comparitively.

I am waiting on the Inspection report from Mazda to talk about it.. There might be room for negotiation but i don't think he will reduce the 2k .. the price i am talking about is before tax and other additional charges they will ask.

No its not.. but is it safe to purchase Mazda with 90 already on it ?! how much more mileage i can expect from it ?!
kms are just numbers if the car is well taken care of.

Couple of my colleagues have the same 2.5Turbo engine in their CX9s and have over 160000 kms. No issues.

Auto Trader in Calgary shows one cx5 at a Lexus dealership selling for 37k and that is with 44000 kms only. Will still have some factory warranty left but will cost slightly more than the model you are currently looking at.

Alberta market is definitely pricey in comparison to Toronto.

That's an accident vehicle . I have seen many reviews about rust and road noise problem in Mazda.. is that really true ?!

Also i have seen some cars with 0 service records for 58 k or 60 mileage and its being sold in Mazda showroom.. what might be the actual reason for it.

My apologies as I didn’t notice the accident part.

No issues with rust either. My last CX5 was driven for 9.5 years before I traded it in. No rust.

Got quite a colleagues who drive or have been driving CX5s and one is on the road since 2012. No rust issues or anything else.

Regarding the service records, some don’t keep them but if the vehicle was serviced at the dealership where the vehicle is being sold then they should be able to give the records. Unless they have something to hide.

All the best in your hunt, hopefully you find something that suits your budget and taste if this one is not for you.

Thank you so much for the help !! I think the vehicle i am looking for is from Quebec and doesn't have much service records in Carfax.. I am relying on Mazda service center inspection to take a decision .. hope fully it goes well. Thanks again.

If the car was serviced properly, oil, filter, plugs, etc then 90k is not a big factor. On the other hand if it was abused that's another story. You really have no way of telling. Have it inspected, see what the warranty from the dealer is and go from there. Not sure if Canada Mazda offers CPO but you should see if they offer that or something similar. I think even without CPO the warranty is longer up north.

There's a thread on this site titled "High Mileage CX-5's, report in" or something similar. There's lots of posts with CX-5 over 150k, and higher. There's also some posts with CX-5's being sold by dealers with over 300k on the Odometers.

The car had so much rust the suspension spring and strut as well. I have scheduled an appointment for Friday with an actual Mazda showroom. Hopefully it goes well.
Also, as i said earlier there was only 2 record of service in CarFax.. Once was on 40k and other was 68K which i don't feel ok.

I will ask whether the CPO warranty is possible or not by tomo.. Thank you.

Sounds like you aren't really thrilled with this car. I would keep looking. Used prices are plummeting in the states. I would think Canada will follow this trend.

If regular service (especially oil changes) cannot be verified on this vehicle, you need to pass.
