New feature - 360 view.

Cool option! I'm working on a retrofit for my GX to do this. It came from factory as a rare option but mine doesn't have it. Not sure how this Mazda one works but on GX on slow speeds would be good off the pavement on overgrown forest roads.

Information on the 360 camera in the 2018 Mazda 6 owners manual is 26 pages (from 4-175 to 4-201)!

Better to have them than not have them.

If one is not paying attention to the screen and encounters something, the sensors will pick it up and notify the driver.
Disagree. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Pretty soon it'll be a $50,000 CX-5.

When parts trickle down the product range, they will inevitably become cheaper.

Besides we already pay that for our top spec Akera here.

Right there. You get all the toys. Your CX 5 is more then 4grand more then ours.

And most of the ones sold are the higher grade models (Touring, GT and Akera) meaning people are willing to fork out $$$ to get the features.

Yea that’s the rub in the US people equate big with quality. Most smaller cars (CX-5 is compact class) get decontented here. Happens with all brands though Mazda maybe a little more. With VW people often by the OEM eu parts to add back stuff like power folding mirrors on the GTI. I’m of the rare breed here that likes small cars and wants them very well equipped. To me the CX-5 is large lol

Over here its usually European cars that are decontented and then you need to add lots of extras.

Same here.
Have you driven a car with the 360? I contend it's overkill to include sensors as well. It's redundant.

I kinda disagree but it’s also possible the cars I’ve driven with cameras we’re not that good...... Recent Infiniti rental had them and they were blurry and distorted.

If Mazda keeps the resolutions at least similar to current reversing camera for the others then I'd be OK with that

I mean if it’s well executed sure but I think the sensors will probably fair better in some situations. Like rain and low light. Neither is perfect so having both might let each cover the others shortcomings.

(iagree)

One of the reasons the CX-5 is doing so well is that is has MORE features for the money than its competitors when optioning up, PLUS its the best driver.
That's why I chose mine.

Definitely a good value for the money! And the stuff that is better costs A LOT more. Like this X3 I’m driving is definitely a better drive but probably near double the price if similarly equipped.
