US Diesel's big splash introduction

F- after you buy a Cruz, BnB drives down to Hudson Valley and beats you over the head with 12 pack of suds!

YES!! Had my first (I think) SoS on tap Sat- nice but strong for me as I'm a pretty fast sipper:)...just built a cruze diesel didn't realize you can spec a manual...oh snit!
Also- newfound appreciation for Victory Prima Pils - not my typical style but nice change of pace- pretty hoppy and sessionable @5.3%

ROFL! (over both things)

Looks like I nailed it as "In NA as a 2019 at the earliest". We will see if my prediction holds. Also, if it really does, I'll buy one! Hell, even a little improvement is worth it!

If not immediately, probably soon after

Interesting that 190 ps equates to around 187 hp. That would put it on par with the current NA engine. Which means, straight line acceleration times would probably be very similar.

Possibly although NA engine might still have the edge in instantaneous engine response.

If you're manually shifting the 2.5L and keeping the revs up, that might be true. But if you're at cruising RPM letting the auto do its thing, any demand for acceleration from the driver will trigger a downshift.

I haven't driven a CX-5 diesel, but if it's anything like the 2.0L diesels I've driven there will be some torque available instantly at cruising RPM, and if you're not asking for a lot of acceleration it won't need to downshift.

From standing start, 2.5 is ahead but with new 140kw 2.2 diesel, that gap might be narrower

They’ve let themselves down by not at least making a media release. If it’s late or even not coming, we’re big boys, we’ll get over it.

I’m disappointed with you Mazda.

I agree, at least tell us SOMETHING.
if it's still on the way, great.
if it's not, not great news but at least we know we can move on and start buying other cars.

For not announcing 2018 model with changes or diesel for USA (uhm)

This IS a big disappointment, I have been willing to pull the trigger on a diesel for about a year. I have even registered on the Mazda website to receive updates on this model and there has NOT been one single update.

I started looking for alternatives a few months ago and if certain hybrids had more range etc. I would have made a purchase. The problem is that most hybrids do not do well with fuel mileage on longer trips while this is the sweet spot for diesels.
