2016 CX5 better "driving machine" over 2017

Valid points, but the mazda has the advantage in performance upgrades over it's stable mates. That vendors are willing to invest money in the platform for performance parts says a lot about the owner base and chassis capabilities.

There's definitely some of that here (as with absolutely any car forum), but no more than your view of the CR-V really.
It's okay that you don't need a fun to drive car... not everyone prioritizes that, and that's okay. Oh, and saying it's a fun to drive car isn't calling it a Lamborghini either, but deep down you already know that right? ;)

The difference is I view the CRV for what it is, a comfortable roundabout vehicle(CRV) that does a great job at things that most people(including me) care about in this segment like fuel economy, cargo space, safety, and a few other things. I don't try and pretend like it's a Mercedes or BMW, or that it can compete with one in terms of luxury, features, performance, etc...but some people here like to think their CX-5 is a step above everything else when it really isn't. If it was it would be a outselling everything in it's class. It's an appliance just like everything else in this category, and the minor differences between these vehicles is why we choose them. IMO I wouldn't say the CRV is 'fun' to drive, but it is a comfortable, relaxing vehicle to drive. When I want something fun to drive I'll drive my 335is, not a sub 200HP SUV.

I think you're reading too much into people's CX-5 enthusiasm. That's ok... with a CR-V you're not used to people being excited about it so we'll just let it go.

You're the living embodiment of CX-5 enthusiasm though... There's nothing wrong with liking your recently-purchased car but at least respond with some valid points instead of just bashing him
 
Someone will like the CX-5, someone will like the CR-V. That is fine because ultimately they will be the ones purchasing and owning the particular vehicle :)

Here's a valid point relevant to this thread. CX-5 sales have increased year-over-year since the 2017 was released. Thankfully more people than not don't believe the 2016 is better ;)

It's that really valid? Since the inception of the CX-5, CR-V sales have also increased year-over-year...

You do realize that what you just posted is complete nonsense, right? First, I never said that you compared your CX-5 or a Mercedes, but you are a huge '17 enthusiast, probably because you spent over $30k on it and need to justify the money spent.

Second, mango's post didn't even mention 16s, so what's the purpose of you mentioning YoY sales compared to the 16? (You are really petty.) If you want to compare sales, go ahead and compare it to the competition.

I really hope that you keep your '17 CX-5 for over 10 years and even when you feel like you want something else, you just keep it for the sake of "it's better than the 16."
