I'm pretty happy with google maps navigation on my phone, but it's not as convenient as potentially just pressing the nav button on my console.

Will i still get routes if I don't subscribe to the live services?

what do other UK drivers think?

I've got the old NB1 in my 6 and really like the tomtom sat nav, my wife has a new 2 with the MZD connect system and i'm not too keen on the Nav, I think if I tried it a few more times i'd get the hang of it more - we'll see when my new 2017 6 sport arrives! As for routes you don't need the live services they just update the traffic info and speed camera databases etc.

that's useful, thanks :)

Also, say if a section of the motorway is closed, like between junction 4 and 5 of the M3, can you key that in and get the sat nav to take you off at J4 and rejoin at J5?

Although I'm not in the Uk but in Denmark and have a CX-3 and not a CX-5, it's still the same system and I actually quite like it.
It's not the fastest but it works and it use the TMC for traffic updates (I don't know if You have that system in the UK), if You don't subscribe to the live services and that works pretty well here.
And the turn-by-turn warnings comes up on the HUD, which is pretty cool :-)

I've got the MZD Connect with live traffic on a 3 year subscription. I have found the live traffic useful in automatically redirecting me around delays. You can select the amount of delay time for it to register the delay. The icons for roadworks and incidents also come up along the route. The road on the route ahead is green, then when there is a slight delay turns yellow and when a larger delay turns red. Your ETA is automatically adjusted. Also tells you the weather conditions at your destination and fuel prices although it seems to concentrate on BP garages. The MZD Connect map information and usability feels like the hard drive sat nav I used to have in my 2012 Skoda Octavia. (It is the same map provider). It has never sent me around a tortuous route for no apparent reason. Having said all that I did prefer the Tom Tom live services on the NB1 as there was a separate graphic route and countdown to where the delays actually were on the right hand side of the screen.

Just my opinion, you may feel differently.

I'm sorry if this is a thread hijack, but can someone point me in the right direction?

I'm trying to get the Europe map data in English.

My last attempt netted me the map data, but it was in Polish. (rlaugh)

Having had both the TT and the MZD now, on balance the TT is better.

Unfortunately the early TT problems with live services soured the system for many people including myself. But eventually TT sorted it out.
Live services is very good, if you want an idea of how good you can get a live traffic map up on the laptop, I don't have the link now though to post.

The TT has more options compared to the MZD, and has a built in simcard for traffic, unlike the crappy MZD which relies purely on your phones data via an hotspot, which still requires a subscription, although I can't complain as Mazda paid for mine due to early BT and wifi connection problems, I had a new wifi and BT module fitted.

Both systems allow waypoints.
