Just another yellow P5 build...

Thanks, I like it alot. That valve cover in the picture is actually a lighter shade of gold than the block/trans. The actual one I have is the correct color. That one was just to keep dust out until it's all put together.

Hopefully the paint holds up.

Forgot to mention how I depowered the steering rack without getting the pinion shaft welded. I followed the method used by Maxx Mazda in his build thread, albeit a little less nicely than him, but it should be as functional.

When the valve body is removed it creates room for the joint in the pinion shaft to move a little, creating slop. I don't have access to any welding shops nearby, so I took it out, removed all the seals, and cut three grooves through all the fluid paths. It takes up the slop and won't try to cycle the grease, which would add resistance to the steering. And best of all, it's quick, easy and free!

Long day, but it's in. Still got lots to do, and it's a little hectic in the bay right now. But here it is. Also realized that one of my wheel bearings is bad. That was a bummer.

Got the j-pipe installed, clutch bled (act stage 1, which feels great by the way), put on my jdm valve cover w/ a new gasket, installed o2 and wideband sensors, filled oil cooler (about 3/4 Qt capacity), tightened all an fittings, mounted coils and plug wires, remounted fuel rail w/ stock injectors.

Everything was going great until I started trying to remove my wheel bearing. I only have a 6 ton press, so I have to hammer on a socket to break loose the seizure before pressing. I started hammering, the bearing broke loose, and that's great, decided to go a little further with the hammer just for sake of time. Put it in the press, no movement, back to the hammer and some more wd40. Socket shatters, a chunk flies off, cuts through my jeans, and embeds itself deep into my thigh. Deep enough to where I'm gunna go see a doctor tomorrow. Much blood. Looks like I got shot. After dealing with that, I went back out and proceeded to break the press, leaving me with a still-stuck bearing, the socket that fits the bearing in peices, no press, and a gunshot wound... Perfect example of why we wear glasses though, take one of those to the eye and you'd be messed up.

Intercooler piping installed, shifter hooked up, radiator installed, wires all plugged.

And I went to see the doctor today, there is still a peice of the socket shrapnel about an inch deep down by my knee. It's resting against my patellar tendon, so I need to be careful it doesn't gouge the tendon by working it too much. Going to see an othopedic sugeon to have it removed sometime next week. The pic is from side view of the peice, it is a pretty big flake when looking from the front. So stupid, hahaha

Great work, coming along nicely.

Damn!!

Both axles popped in, passenger side put up a fight though, passenger side suspension and brakes complete. 626 v6 brakes look great. Arp extended lug studs re-installed into the new hub.

Also had time to fix the center portion of my corksport strut tower bar. Sanded with 400, 800, 1500, then polished. Still little pits here and there, but it came back to life.

I need some help guys.

Car is back together and cranks, but won't start.

Doesn't appear to have fuel or spark. Msp ecu w/ key out, temp reads 1/4 the way up, keyed it reads about normal operating temp. Scanner won't read ecu, Figured my msp ecu was bad.

Swapped back to mp3 ecu thinking I was onto something. Temp gauge reads 0 when key is off, which is normal, but reads normal operating temp while keyed. Is this normal? Scanner won't read the mp3 ecu either, which was fine before.

What do you guys think. Crank and cam sensors are plugged in.

Double check all the engine harness to make sure everything is plugged in and every ground bolted down

You tried to fire it up with MP3 ECU?
If not, could be a test setting turned off injectors?
