Mazda,CX-5,2015,TOURING
Trade in my 2013 Mazda 6 for something else, not Mazda again. Currently looking for a 7 seat SUV or a compact luxury sedan(A4 or C-class). I really like the new CX-9, very good design, but CX-9 is off my list because it has smaller passenger room and I am tired of road noise, wind noise, engine noise, and rattle when driving on bad road. I think 2017 A4 is very good looking sedan with good features like traffic Jam, side assist, and some cool feature like Google earth and Android Auto. BWM 3 series is kind too expensive and smaller, packager are too much and lower trim lack of power. C-class looks very good too, but look package need to add, so end up with 47K or something. Honda and Toyota 7 seat SUV looks boring and not my type, ford explorer seems win my heart, but I am worry about the reliability. Acura MDX is kind smaller for 7 people, GLE too expensive too. So many cars, my budget is 40k to 50k (MAX).

Um, the A4 isn't a 7 seater. But I also love the new A4!!
I would still seriously consider the new CX-9 though,,, the sound deadening is much better than your older '13 Mazda6!
Seven seat comparison!

I know, I really liek A4 but my family need a 7 seats SUV in case if we want to travel together. (We only have 4 family member but sometime I bring my friend and relatives with us too) CX-9 is kind too small to fit adults and I don't like engine noise coming through firewall, and all Mazda new car does that no matter how much sound deadening they put in the car.

Sometimes it can be much cheaper to just rent something when you happen to have a "What if" occasion...

Used Explorer Sport with CPO/Warranty is what I would do, personally. Plenty of space, tons of "features", plenty of performance.

So you crossed something off your list without even seeing it in person or test driving it, even though the reviews are almost all praise. That seems like even more of a waste than the waste of time you spent posting this thread in a Mazda forum asking for anything but a Mazda.

Nothing wrong with his post. He wants something bigger than his current Mazda. Personally, I think a full size SUV or minivan is better for 7 rows, especially when seating adults. 7 row cuv will pretty much have a small back row all the time.

A 7 row CUV is called a "bus". If you need a "7 row CUV", you should have gotten a vasectomy or become pro-choice about 4 rows ago.

You've to accept the fact that there's no perfect vehicle in the world to meet your every need. You've decided the budget part, now you have to decide what kind of vehicle the best to fit the most of your requirements. Since you usually don't need a 7-seater CUV, and you still have a 2015 CX-5 for utility purpose, plus you seem to like good performance and handling, may be you should go for a sport sedan like a BMW at this time. Audi A4 is nice and cheaper, but I'd never consider an Audi for its bad reputation on reliability. BMW 3 series is a good compromise although I'd not keep it too long with a turbo engine and expensive maintenance cost after the freebie ended. Mercedes C-Class is just a sedan with not much sport factor. You can also check Lexus ES 350 for its V6 power, luxury, quietness, and reliability if you can pass Lexus' big "X" front fascia! Actually I really think a new Mazda6 is the most cost-effective sport sedan you can get!

As for larger 3-row CUVs, new 2016 Mazda CX-9 is too new on its SkyActiv-G turbo engine and I'd want to wait for a couple of years. And I really hate Mazda's "penny wise, pound foolish" attitude in certain areas. If you noticed, new CX-9, even in its top-of-line Signature, offers only a 6-way power driver seat with less seat bottom adjustments than our CX-5 GT's. If I really want a 3-row CUV, I'd settle for an Acura MDX, the best selling mid-sized 3-row CUV in the US, for its luxury or a Toyota Highlander for its size, reliability, and resale value.

Don't just get a 3-row CUV for your occasional need of sitting 7 people as the third row seating won't be comfortable for the adults in a long road trip. You can always use your CX-5 for 4, and rent a minivan for 7 as mazdadude suggested.

Since the OP is concerned with interior volume, test driving is a moot point. The new cx9 is one of the smallest in its class and smaller than the outgoing model.

My wife and I are also thinking of trading our cx5 and I thought the cx9 was it, but the interior space (or lack thereof) is a big deal for us.

Thanks for your input, I will check out MDX next. Also, I think xc90 looks really good and air suspension is awesome.

I'd say anything NOT American. That'll at least help your chances of being nicked & dimed to death.

The drawbacks on MDX are the expensive routine timing belt replacement, and it's sometimes problematic cylinder de-activation system for its V6. Just face-lifted 2017 MDX with a new front fascia which looks a little better than the old and ugly Acura signature design. Many people criticize its ZF 9-speed auto but I believe Honda should have done something on it for 2017 MY. Honda's automatic transmissions are always the weakest part for its vehicles. Premium gas is recommended but using regular gas won't hurt anything as the computer will adjust.

Volvo XC90 looks nice but I personally still don't trust Volvo's reliability. Besides there's no replacement for displacement. For the size of a 3-row CUV, I'd prefer a 3.5L V6, instead of a tiny 2.0L turbo engine. Don't ever consider air suspension unless you plan to get rid of your XC90 once the warranty expired!

Seriously, go check the Highlander. Unfortunately Lexus doesn't offer the third row seating in its RX.

I've had 7 Fords and they have all been solid, reliable vehicles. One was an Explorer during the exploding when under inflated tire period. I drove it like a Mustang. I ran the tire pressure >30 psi.

Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed,

A quiver usually holds from 5 to 7 some hold as many as 20

K, do you know any BMW model offer third row seat? I have a BMW dealership whinin 40 miles from my home, and I like BMW design and sporty look.

BMW X5 offers 3rd row seating, but it's very tight and only for kids IMO. Besides, X5 carries much higher sticker price which definitely over your budget. X5 also is assemblied in the USA and the reliability is not too good. Performance and handling is the first grade even with its base 300hp turbo in-line six. Just don't keep it for long to avoid high maintenance and repair costs.
