I think the mounting holes would line up if what the tech at CDT told me is correct, but I'd like to see if anyone here has tried getting a 4" coaxial speaker in the dash where a 3.5" should go. The db351s I put in there are pretty mediocre and I'd like to see if I can shoehorn some CDT CL-4EX coaxials in there.

I have no doubt CDT CL-4EX coaxial would have a little better sound than Polk DB351 as it's a 4" speaker oppose to DB351's 3". But the problem still lies on the lack of space to install your desired 4" CDT speakers. Of course you can mangle the dash frame to make the mounting hole bigger, but you still have to modify or remove the air duck to have enough depth. You have Polk DB351's and you should know how tight the depth is. DB351 requires 1" depth for top mount but CL-4EX requires 2. Check out these pictures and see for yourself.

I think you will run into fitment and depth issues. A probably won't be audibly much different than a 3.5" of same quality.

Thanks guys, I do believe you are correct.

I ended up going another direction with some 1" silk dome Vifa tweeters in a 2 way active setup.

No, NE25's. They are supposed to be better off axis, so since its reflecting off the windshield, I'm hoping for better performance.

I could agree with that. I know most folks say the XT5's are great but they definitely have to be on axis. Let me know your findings on the NE25's I have been eyeing those as well for future builds. Also curious what your mid choice was. Pics/info ftw

I'm having everything installed tomorrow, so no pics yet. The system will consist of:

Looks good. I can't really disagree with any of the choices and it is all components I am familiar with and have looked at prior. Interested to see how the speaker install went.
