Playing around with a cheap 'n nasty ELM327 reader. Got it to work with Windows 10 and using Forscan.
Hopefully it will work its way into Mazda 'oil data reset' and DPF areas.

it'll work with torque too. youc an add pids if they aren't on it already.
plasti-dipped emblems, installed spacers (25mm back/20mm front) and installed mud guards. it's been a busy day.
next up are rain guards and roof rails. it's all coming together

I would like to get a few temps and pressures. In the LR Disco I had a Madman unit which came out of South Africa. Brilliant LCD display of Volts/engine hours, exhaust gas temp, coolant temp, oil temp, boost/oil pressure and low coolant, all fully programmable with Hi and Low alarms and be able to auto scroll through the different readings. The main reason why I had this is that LR buffered the coolant temp gauge via the BCU unit. By the time the LR temp gauge registered hot or started moving, it would be all over. The car would have almost seized by then!
I'm not waiting for a little red thermometer to display (screwy)

You would probably be surprised to learn about the CX-5's built-in diagnostics and engine monitoring functions. The computers are constantly monitoring temperatures and pressures of various systems and have built in fail-safe modes to protect the car in the event of over-heating/over-pressure/under-pressure and a huge host of other variables that could be out of range. If the transmission oil gets too hot the computers automatically reduce engine power, etc.
The car does not depend much on the driver to avoid disaster, the dashboard warning lights are primarily to keep you appraised of what the potential issues are.

Over the years self preservation modes has come a long way. But there is a bit of logic to be used when it tells you something is going on. I wish to have an understanding on why.

Is the handling improved with the spacers? The exhaust tips look good.
Initially I did not want to install paddle shifter extensions, but I went for it.
I have to get used to them, but I guess they are OK. I did not want to go with the other model, because that is way to long.
This model, offers some see through option as well.
Installing them, it was a bit of a pain, though. I had to use some pliers to squeeze the plastic shifters in these aluminum extensions, to be able to tighten the set screws.
You wouldn't believe where did I install these, at Best Buy's parking lot.
I have to get used to them, but I guess they are OK. I did not want to go with the other model, because that is way to long.
