What car did you trade in for your CX-5?

2008 Nissan Armada, was awesome for towing but a pig on fuel!! Cut our fuel bills by more than half!!

2012 Jetta TDI Manual... No explanation needed! Lol, j/k

I was well into my car shopping process when the news from VW dropped, didn't help! Wish I pulled the trigger on the CX-5 a week earlier. Anyway, the wife can't drive stick and had no interest to learn. Plus 2 small cars, she has a 2013 Mazda3 5 door, wasn't cutting it anymore.

We traded in our 2014 FIAT 500L for our new 2016 CX-5 "Grand Touring". We thought about the new FIAT 500X (since we wanted AWD in the next car), but there just wasn't enough room in the back with the seats folded down. It was hard to beat the "bang for the buck" with the CX-5. We really like it so far. It's the first time I've owned a Mazda since I bought a brand new 1979 RX-7 back when they first came out and I was a young buck, still wet behind the ears. (2thumbs)

Bmw 320d. - the cx5 was bigger ( have twin boys so a must for holidays), has all the whistles and bells as standard and most importantly has saved me a fortune on company car tax over the BMW - miss the handling of the BMW but don't miss RWD in any bit of snow or ice!

Wife's 2009 Mini Cooper S (JCW appearance) for a 2015 CX5 Touring AWD with Tech/Bose/Moonroof

Was a fun little car, but fun fact- these things have plastic throw out bearings. $3000 for a clutch at 70k miles isn't ok in our book. So on to bigger and more reliable things!

I currently own a 1971 240z, which is my AutoX car, and the daily driver is a 2009 TDI sportwagen with 200k miles on it, it just keeps on rolling.

Traded in my 2006.5 VW GTI. It's taking a bit of getting used to the bigger size of my CX-5, but so far I love it.

Traded in a 2013 Subaru Outback. It was a good vehicle, but I had become tired and bored driving it; not to mention dulled down by the CVT! Funny but I wanted a smaller AWD, and the CX-5 fit the bill perfectly, including the fun factor!

Interesting that the Mini has reared its head here. I owned a Supercharged (NOT turbocharged...) 2004 Mini that was a kick to drive...but NOT to fix! Sucker was always in the shop...In those days, the "shop" was either the Calif. dealer for warranty work, or a 3rd party shop here in NV when the warranty did not apply! That little bugger took many a ride over Donner Summit on a flatbed (Talk about winter joy! LOL). Mini finally got a N. NV dealer a few years back, and the car is pretty popular, considering its dismal repair record and poor snow handling ability (IN THOSE DAYS WE ACTUALLY GOT SNOW!)

2014 Mazda 3 GT Hatch , such a fun car to drive and great MPG (most of the time 37mpg or better!). Sadly after 2 winters with it, its just horrible in the snow in NE PA. So I asked for a trade in offer on it during my last oil change (@35k), I liked what they told me and I am picking up my 2016 CX-5 GT AWD w/tech in Titanium Flash tomorrow. (10/29/15) Here is my Mazda 3 back when I just got it with 55 miles on it.

Traded in a 2009 Subaru Forester XTL. Started getting high repair bills and the turbo engine required premium gas. My new CX-5 GT with the technology package is equally fun to drive, but has a smoother transmission, better gas mileage and safety technology such as back-up camera, cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, and i-activesense.

Not exactly a trade in.. had to sell her due to changing countries and the import laws over here.

Hopefully get back into something more sporty in a year or two (but with 4 seats to accommodate the offspring)... will keep the CX-5 around as the wife's car..

2011? Mazda3. Loved the car but it was close to 100k miles and I was really worried about the engine failure that seemed common with them.
Never fancied myself in a SUV but here I am. I don't regret it at all and I'm still happy I did it. I love my CX-5.

2010 Honda Element. Loved the car. Fun and practical. Mileage getting up there so traded it while it still had some value. CX-5, way more fun to drive, not as practical for hauling stuff around. Element was not a good highway driver at all. Mazda way better. Getting 5mpg better fuel economy as a bonus.

A leased 2012 Honda CR-V. Turned in the lease early. Hated the headlight performance. Leasing 2016 CX-5 now.

2008 Kia Rondo EX 4 cylinder. I spent more on tires and alignments for this car than any other vehicle I have ever owned. They finally told me after 4 sets of tires that the back tires didn't have any toe in adjustment. They slotted the control arms to be able to adjust the toe in. I found out later there are aftermarket kits that correct this horrible design flaw.

That being said, it was very reliable car. Traded in for a 2015 CX-5 GT, FWD with 3,300 miles for $26K after estimated cost to fix oil leaks and strut replacement on the Rondo exceeded the value of the car.

2005 Toyota Camry V6 XLE. I've always had Toyotas and really wanted to love the Rav4, and I tried! But there was just no chemisrty (notcool) Did a lot of research and decided on a Mazda. I've only had my CX5 for a little over a month now but I love it! I wish I my job was farther away so I could spend more time in it!

I didn't trade-in, I sold my 2006 WRX to a private buyer.
I did NOT miss the 226HP as much as I think I would. My CX5 2.5L has enough power to keep up with traffic. When I use the Sport Mode it is actual pretty sporty.
Like many other owner mentioned, the premium gas, low fuel economy (18-23 mpg) and the speeding ticket is getting really annoying.
I am getting 350 miles per tank of gas in a combine city/hwy driving.

Hey Dee0121, we have the same car 2016 CX5 GT Crystal Blue, you have good taste.
