2014 Mazda CX5 GT
I have a 2014.5 CX5 GT + tech and would like to add memory seats as I share the car with my wife... does anyone know if memory seat module can be added to the North American CX5's and how? I'm thinking this should be a fairly easy update since they already come with factory memory in Europe and Australia if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks,

I would like this feature as well.
is it confirm European models came with this feature?

Yes its confirmed. European and pretty-much everywhere else but North America.

I spoke to the dealer and they have no idea... figures.

same as you. CX-5 GT don't have memory seat in here (Indonesia) to. So silly. why do they downgrade even just for one memory seat module. sigh.

I would also like to know. Anyone know where the memory seat buttons are located? Was just curious since Mazda6 has memory seats in the GT trim and if we could use it or not.

Most likely, it needs some potentiometers in the seats also, to know where it is. I have repaired my ex Jaguars's seats.

Perhaps some folks in Europe can chime and in and take some pictures?
I'm hoping this might be as easy as adding a module in the car as I don't think potentiometers are needed and even if they are, they can also be added...

I just checked the Romanian Mazda website and read their brochure and the driver seat has memory and also their cars there come with the center infotainment dial instead of one cup-holder and the rear headrests are stealthy kind instead of the ones we get in North America which stick out like a sore thumb.

Here is the link.

Also they don't get the 2.5l gas engine, instead they get the 2.2l 175hp diesel engine.

I got in contact with the sales in Romania and apparently its possible to put the memory seat module in a North American CX5.
The guy will get all the info and give me more details as he obtains them.

Also I've asked prices for the rear euro headrests as I dislike the ones my car came with... stick out like a sore thumb obstructing what I see in the rear view mirror.

I appreciate your initiative and am very interested in the outcome of your inquiries. Please keep us posted. Maybe we could get a group buy together. Thanks.

Definitely interest in headrests, I think everyone would rather have the euro headrests.

De origine si eu sint din Romania, Cluj.
It would be nice to be possible, because my sister is coming in May to visit me, from Romania.

Response from the Romanian dealership:

Buna ziua,

Basically to add memory seats it looks like a 1500-2000@ job and the headrests can be purchased for 120Can + 24% tax... ouch 24% tax...

A seat memory function, is more then just a box plugged in.
Each motor in the seat, needs a potentiometer for feedback(the computer to know where each motor's position is).
There still has to be a switch and wiring harness.

Dang! I guess the fuse for the seat is just going to stay out... In my old car, I just unplugged the seat. I unplugged everything I could find under the driver's seat, but the seat kept moving. I have no idea what I unplugged, so I reconnected them all.

Memory buttons are located just above the power seat adjustment buttons. I saw it on a Youtube video. It's also in our 626 page manual. I happen to come across it as I was skimming through the first 132 pages. ugh that thing is long! I was surprised about the memory seats b/c our CX-5 has both the packages and figured if memory seats were available, we'd have it in our GT trim. Nope. Nada.

Probably a 2017 option...

The memory seats in our new CX5 GT are great.
My keyfob has the drivers seat set for me and the other key has the seat for the missus prefered driving position. Its just a pity the power folding exterior mirrors arnt linked to the keys as well but oh well.

Perhaps Mazda thinks the U.S. CX-5 drivers would not easily give up their cars to someone else...
