Hi,
these information are very useful - Thanks. But I am not a Pro and have the following question:
I am driving a Grand Touring (tire - 225/55R19 99V / wheel - 19 x 7J), means standard.
Now I want to have something more 'sportive' like 245er and I do not want to change the wheel size.
1st question: does another tire size fit on my stock wheel ?
2nd question: do I need to have any changes on the body of the car?
3rd question: the Mazda dealer said that with all changes on my wheels I will have problems with my TPMS and/or the speedometer. Is that correct?
Thank you for some answer

Will a 245 60 18 tire work? If not what would be a good size tire. I am mounting them on some 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 wheels.
There is some really good info on this thread, thanks.
Does anyone know if the wheels on a 2016 Grand Touring CX-5 are still only 7 inches wide? I was hoping it grew a little wider so I can put on wider tires. Based on the information on this thread, I suppose the widest I can go is 245/50/19.
I can't say about the MY 16 wheels, but I can say that a 7" wide wheel is in spec for a 255/50R19. How wide did you want to go?
Trust the tire manufacturers - They say it'll fit, it'll fit.
Would a 235/55/19 fit CX-5 Grand Touring?
Yes. It'll lower the speedometer reading a touch, but it's nothing to lose sleep over.
Thanks for the info. I never strayed from the manufacturing recommendations with my past vehicles. However my CX-5 2015 Grand Touring is begging for a wider tire. I am saving for nicer rims, but need new tires now. ( still have the originals from factory/Mazda ) I would love any advice on what size tire, brand, tread or style is good. I work for a utility company as a outside facilities technician, ( means I can't use weather as an excuse for missing work ) and have a cumulative 83mls travelAll models use a 5 x 114.3 mm (5 x 4.5") hub bolt pattern. Offsets in the range of 35 - 50 mm should fit - you don't normally see wide wheels with high offsets that result in big backspacing. The CX-5 uses the Mazda-standard 67.1 mm center bore diameter.

Note 1: Pirelli doesn't seem to think that the rest of the tire industry's standards for suitable wheel mounting width apply to them. There are quite a few Pirelli tires that have oddball width ranges compared to other tires of that size. I've noted where I ran across these in compiling this list, and marked sizes for which Pirelli has at least one offering with a different recommended mounting width. There are undoubtedly more, but this is just what I've run across so far.
Note 2: These sizes are somewhat questionable, but Continental's Tire Selector indicates that they're suitable fitments for a CX-5. They certainly meet the load rating requirement for the vehicle, but I'd keep an eye out for rubbing if anybody wants to try them.
As for bigger sizes - If anybody can find a 21" wheel that will fit the CX-5, I'll be happy to compile suitable tire sizes. Until that happens, I'm not bothering with it. Anybody who wants to put 22" wheels on their CX-5 can do their own homework - the load ratings on the tires are marginal at best, and the wheels are ridiculously heavy. I strongly recommend against it.
