Looking into buying a 2011 CX 9 Touring this weekend, but had a question regarding installing a subwoofer.i want to keep my subwoofer hidden for theft deterrence as well as maximizing space in the back. I noticed in photos there is this storage cubby under the rear floor:

Had anyone mounted a subwoofer/amp under there? I just have a single 10" in a small box, and the amp is small as well. If so, any pictures so I can see. Any reason you can't mount there?

I have not mounted anything in the cubby yet, however It's got to be big enough to fit what you're talking about. I pulled mine out when I was running/installing some ambient lights in the headliner. There's really nothing to speak of back there. It mounts directly to the floor and was pretty easy to pull out.

Here's some dimensions for ya:

28"W x 12"H x 5.5" Deep

The thing on the left is the stock (for GT) Bose "bass module". So if you're runnin' your own, you could take that out too, and cut the cubby if you need space. 12"H is also modifiable most likely by cutting the two vertical separators.

Also, Welcome to the Forums!

Thanks for those measurements. Ended up buying a 2015 Sport so we will see if I'll be able to make it work.

No worries and congrats on the purchase!! I'm thinking about throwing a Kicker HideAway back there... Apparently quite a good sub if you're looking to fill out the sound (not looking for boom).

Should be a simple install. I would like to see some picks when you are done.

Depending on how much bass you want, the factory Bose enclosure will suffice. I bought one off of ebay, replaced the driver with a more compatible 4ohm model from Tang band and push 50 watts through it. It gets loud, clean, and stays out of the way. You'll have to modify the enclosure a bit, and hit it with some caulk to seal it, but it works well for a 5 1/4" sub. I was going to go the same route as you, but trying to get a properly sized box in the sub area might prove to be difficult. I liked the factory look as well. I'll try to post some higher quality video if you'd like.

No, I'm running a JVC head Unit, and a Rockford Amp, bridged with the low pass @ 100hz and gain @ about 25%. https://www.amazon.com (commissions earned) It's small enough to fit under the right side store bin, so we retain the large storage bin in the center.

Polk Audio DB's all the way around, cut off @ 100hz on the fronts and the doors @ 75

And the Tang band is every bit if not better than the JL.

ah! good to know. i understand the factory oem Bose sub is 2 ohms (correct me if i'm wrong anyone), so just swapping out the sub doesn't look like it's going to work.
