Weird right? Why would i want to uninstall my turbo completely.

Well, i bought a Turbo Protege5 with a complete MSP turbo kit bolted on with a FMIC,MBC and POPES Downpipe for $1000 bucks!

What i want to do is take off all the turbo things and put it back to a complete N/A motor.

Have looked and came up with crap. Started taking off the fmic and pipes, sri and a couple vacuum hoses.

What else am i missing. I looked on google to look at stock engine bays of the proteges but nothing up close.

Help!

well...

oil cooler has to come out. you need to get a na oil cooler stud to replace the long one thats in there.. the coolant feed for the oil cooler can just be plugged with a bolt. the turbo oil feed line is removed, the pressure sender removed from the t and put back into the block. the oil cooler return fitting on the coolant bypass tube *near the heatercore lines* would have to be capped, or you would need an na motor coolant bypass. on the front of the coolant bypass there is a silicon T that receives the turbo coolant. you would need to replace that with an na one. the mbsp above the oil pan has a tap in it for the turbo oil return you would have to cap or remove the mbsp from the engine and replace with na one.

otherwise you would need an na manifold /cat or a header,na intake system, prob an na rad cause the msp one cant be mounted on its own without custom brackets/taps done. na ecu unless he is running a piggybacked stock ecu.

assuming you dont have any hangups with bolts ect removing the whole thing would take a couple hours.

Alright cool. Thanks for the reply!

Do you know if i can just get the replacement bolts and caps at autozone?

never been to autozone but im sure you can get fasteners just fine. the cap you might need to get from ebay or atp turbo. unless they didnt swap mbsp and just drilled a hole. if thats the case, a bolt will be fine.

Do you know what the cap is called? So i know what im looking for. Thanks again man.

gt25 oil return blockoff plate . but crawl under there and see how the oil return is fitted before you do anything.

So you bought a turbo P5, what does that have to do with your MSP? Please just leave the car the way it is, the turbo is the main reason why anyone wants these cars and you are completely ruining the value and the entire point of this car's existence. Sell the car if you don't want it anymore or put the P5 back to N/A like it's supposed to be. What do you expect to gain from removing the turbo on your MSP? I guarantee you won't see more than 1-2mpg better mileage if that and the car will have no power.

I am dumbfounded that someone would not only seriously consider doing this but actually think its a good idea?!?

Reread his first post.
Either he wants to part out the turbo stuffs or resell the p5 as na and keep said parts..

Oh I thought he wanted to keep the P5 and strip and sell the speed.

In that case may as well just leave the turbo on the P5. All it has is a downpipe, just swap the DP over and install the MBC if you have a boost gauge and intake/exhuast upgrades. Ebay fmic kits are stupid cheap or you can swap that over if you want as well but IMO it's not worth the trouble.

Seems like you want to do a lot more work than you need to.

If you own an MSP, and you like to drive fast, eventually you will need engine parts, or a whole motor. That being said, that P5 would be a great catalyst for said motor (among alot of other cross compatible parts). If you only paid $1000 for it, then you got more than your money's worth from the mazdaspeed kit and downpipe alone. Unless you're in dire need of $, it would seem more logical to strip off all parts that are usable in your MSP, and have the rest hauled to a junkyard. Of course this is only my opinion...

Drive thw p5 as it is, build the speed...

As much as I love my speed and will never get rid of it... my p5 is just... better...which is weird cause it is 90% speed now...

My wife has a P5, and I agree its a great car, but I cant say its "better" than my speed. Except that her rear windshield wiper works better than mine.

...but I agree, drive the P5 as it is. Its not nearly as fun without the turbo.

I guess the thing i miss most on the speed is a sunroof.. and cruise.. kinda nice.. and the hatch.. and seats that fold flat.. i like the speed for its rareness, but now that ive transfered all the speed stuff to the p5, i miss it less. ill have to make the speed really rediculous to make it worth going back to heh. or i could keep it stock as a daily, and make the p5 rediculous.. meh.. who knows. i baught it to not have to make up my mind about that stuff for a long while.

one thing i do miss... is people turning to check me out when i pass.. or being able to immediatly spot my car in a parking lot.. the p5 blends in.. a little too much unless you can see the wheels.. or hear the psh...

I bought the p5 to strip it back to a n/a and resell it.

As well as keep the turbo stuff as spares. Turbos be expensive.

Its also got a hks bov, corksport fmic kit, pope downpipe, forge wastegate, turbosmart mbc, racingbeat exhaust, tein lowering springs, greddy shift knob, short shifter, and msp sway bars as well as the garette t25 turbo kit with very little shaft play.

But i bought it mainly to resell. For a $1000 bucks. Cant beat that.

s*** son.. i mean the pope dp was a score in itself, but the corksport fmic.. damn.. DAMN. insterested in selling the exhaust? i assume its been adapted to fit the pope downpipe already? that might be exactly what i want for my p5 vs ghettofabbing somthing to work.

Yeah, I live in oregon. And corksport it pretty much up the road for me. So when i saw the fmic i said to myself "score" lol. Its been fabbed to fit the pope downpipe. I would have to get a replacement exhaust if i pulled it off. Were you looking for the whole exhaust or just axle back?

You would want bigger if you use the rest on the msp. I'd want the whole thing as a bolton for a p5 and not have to cut my msp one..

Update: wasnt prepared for the mass coolant and oil lol. Besides that everything is pretty straight forward.

Now i just gotta find cover caps and screws to bolt into the old lines n holes. Harder then it sounds. None of my local shops got anything thats a perfect fit.
