Aftermarket audio

Hello! I am contemplating getting an aftermarket head unit installed in mY CX-5. What I'd like to know from those who have upgraded is how many vehicle features did you lose in the quest for better sound? I know that there are units available whicheck interface with the back up cam, but I am asking about other features like the various settings for the door locks and headlights? (Best example, I really like the walk away lock out feature, but would a new head unit negate that feature, since is it currently controlled through the stock head unit)

Now, that aside, for those who have upgraded, what make/model system have you installed and how has it improved sound and audio functionality?

Your message didn't include what year and trim of the CX-5 you have, so it's kind of hard to know what you might be losing. In my case, I have a 14 GT with tech package. I didn't lose any non-audio features.. What's lost is the ability to easily change them. For example, I had my wipers set to auto-wipers and my auto headlights set to medium sensitivity before I swapped out the head unit. They settings are still intact, but I'd either have to put the stock HU back (or go to a dealership) to change those settings.

There is one AUDIO feature I lost: The bose "centerpoint" thing. I didn't like it, so it's no loss for me.

I've upgraded (and it IS an upgrade) to the Pioneer 8100NEX. The sound is a bit better, but that _might_ be because I have an equalizer in the HU, and tons of settings to "tweak" the sound the way I want it (and try to compensate for some of the EQ I don't like on the still in-use bose amp.) As for what functionality I've gained: android auto, (or apple car play), fully functional iPod support (with playlist resuming!), lots of video options, etc.
