Service Bulletin FIX USB playback and SMS Bluetooth! NB1/TOMTOM Only (2012-2015)

I will see today if my wife's iPhone fairs any better. It was balking at the download part but I think that may be all the MMS she has on there. She plans to delete everything today so I can test it.

Same behavior with my wife's iPhone 5S. It says it downloads something but it doesn't. Maybe some weird config? Or new module has issue of some kind? Just thinking out loud... wonder if there are somehow multiple flashes to these modules and the one for SMS didn't get applied?

This update does not seem to fix much of anything. If the MMS still does not work and the other issues are still there, I don't know what it is supposed to fix.

does the same issue happen with samsung or other phones or is it just an iphone issue?

I think SMS was hit or miss on Android but didn't work at all on iPhones. TSB only states SMS issues for iPhones. So far I sense less oddness of unit. I was able to get it to give me an iPod error toggling to play music from the iPhone and BT still seems a little flakey for for me but if you wait long enough it will resolve itself. Need more time to feel out the differences of the upgrade but so far nothing to absolve the head unit of it's quirks in my rig.

I might see if dealer will swap out for another module. I've yet to fill out dealer survey. At least this will be an easy head unit to swap out someday. The 16's unit seems as non-upgradeable as the head unit in my '07 Infiniti. The 16's would be nice today but in 5 years maybe not so much.

Mine would not download older messages maybe because they were already read, last night got a text while driving and yes it did work, so maybe only with new messages. iPhone 6+ IOS 8.3

It never used to work on my old Galaxy S4 but after I upgraded to Kitkat 4.4.4 it started working pretty flawlessly. I just got a new phone on Friday, and the Galaxy S6 Edge running Lollipop also paired perfectly with the system and I can get all of my text messages.

One improvement I noticed is that it didn't used to recognize individual text messages from a group conversation but now it does and even marks them as MMS on the head unit.

No.. I thought that too. At least Mazda claims this should work now with updated module so we will see what happens. I think something is awry with this replacement.

I have an iPhone 6 and I've had friends send me new text messages, it does not appear for me period. I've tried it both the day I got the module swapped as well as testing it out once a day after it got replaced. Not entirely sure why, but the SMS thing is still an issue. Granted, I'm happy that the Bluetooth connects much faster, but the TSB didn't entirely fix everything.

And you turned on the option in the bluetooth settings? (by pressing the i next to the connection and turning on notifications?)

And it may sound stupid but do you also have the notifications turned on in notification Center to show banners.

Scheduled for April 22nd gonna get a whole bunch of work done with it as well. Just got word from the dealer the work is completed so I will pick it up in an hour or so.
Really hope the BT is more reliable and does not "forget" or grey out any longer.

I even got it trip up Pandora today. Usually once I got this working with old system it worked pretty well unless cell signal dropped off in rural area. Today it had issues changing to another Pandora station. That is something I haven't tried out.

I saw a few on Mazda6 forums state that they were having the same issue with non-text messaging & iPhones. Just need to find the common denominator.

2015 CX-5, iPhone 5/6, swapped module at dealer over the weekend, 7.0 software... fixed SMS for me ONLY after we "forgot" previous pairings on the phone, turned on notifications, and rebooted the phone after new pairing was made. Tried out the "new" functionality and honestly you're not missing much... I would not go out of my way to get this "fix" if the car wasn't brand new and I wasn't going to pick up my plates anyway.

I had to re-pair all of my phones as they were all gone when I picked up vehicle.

Not so concerned now with SMS as BT connectivity seems to be even more quirky for me. I'm still not convinced my "new" old module might have problems.

yeah but most of us still want the usb issues fixed ;)

How is the Bluetooth lag with the new module?

For example, if I play music through my iPhone 6 and press "Next" on the steering wheel, the phone switches to the next song, but there is about a 2-3 sec buffer or lag in the speakers before the sound comes out.

Finally got SMS to work!!! Not conclusive but I think what did it is this. I deactivated the passcode and rebooted the phone. It instantly worked after that with first message. I re-enabled the security passcode and it continued to work. I didn't try rebooting phone again since I was so euphoric that it was working :-) Spread the word... don't give up hope it will work. It took me about 30 minutes of settings changes and was about to give up when I thought about the passcode.
