2016 Mazda CX-5 - What do you not like?

the white and red have a $300. extra charge
Well, I went ahead and took the plunge and got the 2016 GT without the Nav and Tech Package. $29.2K, which was the True Car Price. I got the white exterior with the black interior. Sucker is gonna get hot during the summer but oh well :)

As an owner of a 2015 CX-5 Sport I have to say I think the radio is pretty good. I came from a 2010 Mazda5. Sound not too bad and I have just started using a USB stick for music. Wow, for me that's a huge advance. I will say I think the FM antenna is not properly designed or not located in the best place.
Sound quality for this level of vehicle is OK with me.

It's not so much the way it sounds...it's the simple one-line display and poor Bluetooth implementation. There's zero attempt at displaying track or artist...it says 'track 089' which means nothing. USB with Android hasn't worked for quite some time, so I have to use BT. I'm also a bit jaded by having to put up with the sub-par Sync implementation with Ford for the last 2 years, so I just want it to work.

I did manage to negotiate a trade with the dealer for a Sport with the Connect upgrade...switching it out on Friday. Unfortunately it means changing from the reflex blue to white, but the BT interoperability was just going to eat away at me over the years. I know, first world problems...

A
after a day with my new 2016 here's what i don't like:

1) the metal trim ring around the left side dash vent reflects in the drivers side window right where the outside mirror view is - very distracting.

2) although i like the new infotainment system, i miss not having the track number display with the currently playing song from my usb flash drive. Sometimes it plays the songs in album order and sometimes alphabetically depending upon how you got to the song list. Otherwise i like the new infotainment system a lot.
I had the dealer switch out the chrome framed vents for plastic......could not be looking at that reflection for years. It could also be a safety issue. It was especially bad on cloudy days.

Both my wife and I had an issue with the reflection. We are different heights. Also, others at the dealership noticed the same thing.

I test drove a '16 and had no problems with this reflection issue that some folks are reporting. By the way, I'm 6'3".

I didn't notice the reflection the first few weeks, but I see it now. I think it falls into the "once you see it it won't go away" category.

Doesn't bother me too much yet though, no problem focusing on the mirror.

I've had mine for about 400 miles. Right off the bat, I'd like to replace those chrome trims on the dashboard side vents with non-reflective matte finish dark color trims--the chrome trims reflect in my side mirrors all too clearly, almost to the point of distraction. Why design something like that? Also, I would like a normal power socket (cig lighter type) in the traditional front location where it belongs rather than only in the console and rear. Now I have to have my GPS power cord right alongside me and the console open.

So far, those are obviously oddballs, IMO.

The pre-'16 non-chrome dash vent pieces might fit.

I'm just really having a hard time understanding why folks are making such a big deal about this reflection thing. I didn't notice anything distracting in what's a really high-qual interior.

Chrome reflections in both mirrors is distracting. Other brand name cars do not have something glaring in your side view mirrors. it was a deal breaker, but the dealership fixed it with vents with no chrome frames. You can't tell that anything has been changed except for the lack of glare in the mirrors. It's not good on sunny days, but much worse on cloudy days.

It does bother my wife and me with these chrome reflection on window glass just happened to be on both outside rearview mirror areas. I guess this is the "oops" moment Mazda engineers didn't catch at the first place while designing these chrome vents. I wish I had spotted the problem before we purchased the car so that we could have our dealer replacing these chrome vents to the black ones from previous year!

It appears to be an easy fix. I love my CX-5 and it is better without the reflections......also safer.

Some GPS units take a mini USB input as power. Have you tried powering it from the USB ports in the front?

I dont like not having an oil temperature gauge and the 12V outlet is in the center arm rest. Would prefer it to be in the center dash cubby. Thats it.

Is there at least an escape for the wire to come out?

Yes there is an opening for a wire to come out of the center console.

That's good. I actually like that. So you can hide the charger and most of the wire and just have enough wire come out to keep your phone charging and sitting in the cup holder. Although I guess it can be an issue if you use your phone on the dash for GPS. But you should be able to charge via the USB ports that are located up front.
