What have you done to your MSP today?

the most important half took a year to get lol. gonna be a pretty limited peice though. glad i got in on it when i did. now i just need a exhaust, tires/wheels/dif ect.. good times.

im actually kinf of surprised how heavy it is. not a surprise my wife left it on the porch for me to get lol.

seeing the quality piece he builds its not surprising its got some weight. i got to meet him and see some of his other work and he takes pride in the things he builds.

But gas prices will go back up. When it was $1.50/l people lobbied for gov support to protect the public from high prices. Now the gas companies will lobby for gov support to protect against a Low price. Can't win heh.

Sucks to see another msp down but glad your ok. I'd prob punch the guy in the face for that s***. But your car prob did a pretty good job of thay already heh.

Maybe the gas in Canada will go back up, but it's supposed to stay low for a while. The new saudi prince has vowed to never let oil barrels hit $100 again, and the lower price helps to thwart fracking and drilling for oil in other parts of the world.

Domo that depressed the s*** out of me to hear. I want a spicy so bad and it kills me to see one get destroyed. I have no idea what I would do in your situation.

the problem for me is that we dont actually refine any of our oil into fuels here. we have one of the largest untapped reserves of oil in the world but are only using 3% of the capacity. we sell the crude VERY CHEAP to foreign bodies to refine and sell it back to us for way more. just doesnt seem intelligent to me as it consumes fuel to transport and make the fuel that we then have to buy back... we should just refine it here, sell it here.. sell the surplus internationally.. but most of our resources are basically being auctioned off and i dont like what that means for our future generations.

but. doesn't matter to have an opinion really. s**** decided and will continue regardless of how many people make a stink. wars get started over this s***.

horns, if you like spicey so much why not just paint one of your msps spicey lol. people make paintwork out to be a really big deal but painting in itself is piss easy. its all in the prep work that takes the time and care.

Soooo....not sure what exactly is the bad idle and stumble, may be a combination of the broken hot side pipe from the bpv and the cracked manifold that may or may not be leaking but the welding looks pretty nasty and the posibility of maybeeeee.......a bad coil pack; not sure though because I don't have any codes except for the speed sensor which I didn't hook up. I'm hoping it's not the manifold because I wanted to pick up an aftermarket and a GT28. Which I think I may need to do sooner

Finally did something to it...

Mocked up the front bumper cover and hood.

I don't see that ever being worth the trouble, pay someone $3-4k for a decent paint job or maybe save a grand or two doing some work myself. Would much rather just buy one or build a motor for one of them, especially considering any spicy for sale nowadays needs paint anyway. I would like to trade the other titanium for a spicy or maybe a speed3 once it's running.

The spicy's around here are in good shape. Mine is definitely the worst of the 3, now 4, around here. And it's not the paint, it's damage to the finish and body- dings, dents, scrathes, etc. Rusty's (a friend) is as close to perfect as you can get for as 11 year old, spicy orange MSP with 70k miles. Austins has a damaged front bumper and grill from a trailer hitch. The other I've seen around is in excellent shape, too and only has around 83k on it. My sideview mirror caps are discolored and my bumpers were discolored, but the bumpers were due to a really, really bad paint job with someone who doesn't know how to mix and lay a tri-coat.

Anyone ever do a full abs delete on an msp? Couldn't find anything by searching. Now that the mp3 is totalled ill most likely swap everything over and do a write up for anyone who would like to do it in the future.

What you're guys winter beaters? I gotta start looking into getting a new car and really don't know what to get. I don't think I want another protege lol. 5 is enough for now.

My MSP is my winter beater, and it's still rust free!

Yesterday I removed the MBSP and cleaned the MSP MBSP to install on the JY motor. The inside of the engine is spotless, I believe the 25k mile claim from the seller. Need to install the oil pan, clutch, replace the water pump and timing belt then I can drop it in the car and get it running.

Hornsfan would you mind telling me the size for the bolts on the mbsp and the oil pan? Thanks

The heads are all 14mm, I believe they are M10x1.25 but there are at least 3 different lengths so I will have to get back to you on that.

Anyone know where I can get a gasket for the oil pump pickup tube to the MBSP? All I can find is the O-ring that goes between the oil pump and MBSP, I need the gasket between the MBSP and pickup tube. I can see pics online included with a pump but I can't find it separate, even on rockauto.

Are you sure on the thread pitch? Is not 1.25 ? Thanks. I have a spare forged short block and a new AWR pan I just need to get a mbsp and start assembly.

Heh. P5 winter beater. I have three proteges. All but the msp work perfectly heh. Easy to work on and cheap.

Typo, if you only need the oil pan bolts they are all the same length. The MBSP on this motor is intact and clean, I will sell it cheap with all the hardware if you need it. It's not from an MSP so you would have to tap it.

I'd prefer to get an msp one but if the price is right I'll consider it so let me know when your ready and once more. Thanks

found a pretty sweet deal on some 17" mazda 3 snowflakes with decent oem rubber. I was gonna buy some rs5's and paint em but $1000 for OK used wheels and new tires or i can just spend $1500 on new wheels i want and new tires..
so ill have these to roll on for a while and they will look pretty sweet on the p5 when im done with them too.

picked up a compression tester, might check it out this afternoon if i have time after all the family day business. having a real problem fighting off mold in the interior though. i did the vinegar/disinfectant wash a couple weeks ago and the bitches are back!. ill prob have to have it steam cleaned very soon.
