Resuming Playback with 2014 CX-5 GT Tech Stereo and other issues

From the service manual:

Bluetooth1.webp
Bluetooth2.webp

It sits behind the glove compartment.

Actually, it sits ABOVE the glove compartment. You unclip and drop the glove compartment door/drawer, and reach up above where it was (the drawings you posted don't really show that very clearly).

The drawings is taken from the 2013 workshop manual (haven't found it for 2014), posted in another thread here on the forum. If you don't agree in the drawings, maybe you should notice Mazda? I just tried to help out zorobg.

Thanks guys; one more thing: does anyone have the wiring scheme for the BT connector. The one for the stereo is easy to find, but so far no lick with the BT. I need to tap in the ACC lead to the BT in order to keep it ON permanently.

Thanks jjw, that's exactly what I deeded. I can safely piggyback of the connector now and confirm how the car is powering the BT.

I'm interested to know the results of your crafty experiment (popcorn).

For a quick test, it might be easiest to remove Audio2 fuse and jumper the output pin to the Audio1 fuse.

This is a great idea jjw; good thing I didn't have time to play around with the connector yet. This way it will also be easier to test the current so I can calculate the toll on the battery from having the BT on all the time.

I didn't say I didn't agree with the drawings. They are correct. I just said it wasn't clear that they show a view looking upward, and the BT unit is above the glove compartment - not behind it.

I may just get a new head unit if it is this bad when I buy mine, supersavings now anyway..I Doubt Mazda will do anything about this dated unit

USB resume issue fix

I have some good news for everyone who is unhappy with lack of resume on the 2014 and later CX-5's. The "fix" is fairly simple to implement and as a result the USB playback will resume as it should. Additionally, the BT reconnection time will be a lot shorter too. That being said, the procedure is not exactly plug and play and there are a number of potential issues, so testing is essential.

Potential issues - let's start with that? ;-)
When you put fix in quote does this mean it is not real fix but rather a work around?

Feel free to PM me.

Cheers,

Al

I call shenanigans.

I talked to Mazda Bluetooth rep at their 800 430-0153 number a few weeks ago and was told me a big update is coming in a month or so.Keep checking with my dealer.
Is it BS?I don't know but we'll see.

Probably the same update that, 8 months ago, was coming in the summer. Then in the Fall. Now maybe in the Winter. (Oh, and apparently they've had this update in Europe for many months now.)

...whatever...

Exactly, its only a workaround; a real fix could only ever come from Mazda themselves. As for issues, how about frying you BT module or worse if not careful. Once you start playing with the wiring the potential for damage is limitless.

After reading, it seems to me like you have attempted to provide continuous power to the bluetooth unit when the car is off - is this done via the connection labeled AB in the bluetooth diagram? Can you provide details?
