My beloved p5 is no more (finally settled on what to replace it with)

2003.5 Mazda p5
After just over 10 years and 113k miles, my beloved 2003.5 p5 *blew up*.
According to mechanic, it may be a broken valve spring or lifter, but no matter what.. the estimate is $1k to fix it. Of course my suspension ideally should be replaced too and I'm overdue for timing belt replacing.. all of that adds up to more than the trade-in value, so I decided to let it go. Sold it for 1k as is.

It's been hands-down the best and most fun car I've ever owned (and I've owned some much pricier ones.. like a brand new 4Runner).. has not had a single issue with the car and enjoyed driving it (a 5-speed!) every time I got behind the wheel.

I've been without it for nearly 2 months now and I miss it dearly.

I've test-driven loads of cars, looking for something as fun and the only one that fits the bill (and is actually even more fun to drive) is the Subaru BRZ, so that's what I'm waiting for (2015 should arrive in late July).

That's that. I'm jealous of the people who still have their p5s in good working order :(

A car that "blew up" at 113k is the best you've ever owned? Yikes. For all the problems that these cars have, it's the absolute worst I've ever owned. But at that low of mileage, I would have invested in fixing it

To each his own. I explained why it made no sense to me to fix it. Putting more than $2k into a car which had $2k trade-in.. and you're still left with a 10+ year old car? Mileage isn't everything.. age is a big part of the equation. If I couldn't afford a new car it would be a different story.

I hope it gets fixed right and serves someone else as well as it has served me. I know I got my money's worth! I got'er brand new for 13.8k and got 1k back.. so.. roughly 1.3k / year. Can't beat that (headbang)

I'm just saying that I would be pissed if I felt like a car were scrap metal after 113K. It's not the 1970's anymore.
