The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I wasn't ready to replace the axle, I've only bought a replacement nut and some grease. When I actually saw the splines under some good light (after thorough cleaning) it all made sense. Now, I think this fix is probably good enough to keep the noise away. I think most of us will replace the axles and bearings before either get eaten up that much.

For now, I'm just happy with the noise gone. Next time I plan on getting axles out I might take care of it all.

EDIT:

It's also a very expensive repair if you want to do it right. Bearing is about $40 and you'll need a press or something like this http://www.harborfreight.com/fwd-front-wheel-bearing-adapters-66829.html, then the new OEM hub is about $122 online + whatever the cost of the driver side axle is. All this for just one side....

Those axles aren't cheap. I've been searching for a used one, but have had no luck. A new one is $300+ with discounts :(

Anybody need tires? I have a set of Continental DW's 245/40/18 with about 3k miles on them for sale. I bought a new set of tires and don't really want these to just sit in my garage.

Too big for me.

Anybody watching Le Mans this weekend? Who has the best chance at beating Audi?

Any wall on the course.

Too soon?

I lol'ed!

I think Toyota has the best shot to win this year. They have some real pace and their reliability through the first two rounds of the WEC has been excellent. Unfortunately if they win it will mean that Mazda is no longer the only Japanese marque to win the race outright. :( Plus, they won the first two rounds of the WEC at Silverstone and Spa. ;)

Porsche had a bunch of mechanical issues at Spa with both cars, and one of the two cars had mechanical issues at Silverstone. They are reasonably quick, but I don't think they are 100% of the way there as far as pace.

In other news...

Mark Webber returns to Le Mans:

I wish I needed tires as I would probably snap these up.

I will make it cheap enough that you can keep them in your garage. I just don't have the space and then I will probably buy wheels for them if they are sitting there. So needless to say I want them away from me haha

I literally have no room in my garage. Like I can't get into the passenger size of my car because I've got corn hole and the recycling bin right next to my car. (lol2)

But how cheap?

So according to Jalopnik, Audi rebuilt the car overnight. That's freaking amazing.

My favorite comment from a reader on Jalopnik:
"You can fix that much damage in one night, but it takes a week to get my car back after an oil change and an alignment? Screw you Audi."

Yeah... impressive, but not that impressed. Big money team, lots of crew, and all parts only a country away. Let's rewind to 2009. Petit LeMans. Highcroft Acura. Not so high budget team The only remaining body tub located in California. Tub was shipped overnight by plane from Cali to Road Atlanta and the car was rebuilt in under 24 hours.

Plus... there is stop motion video of the Acura.

Oh... and **** Audi. :)

Audi is like the New York Yankees of racing, most money and they aren't shy about bragging

I just found it hilariously ironic the car they used in the comercial to taunt Porsche was the one that wrecked haha
