Door sills

Anyone worried about anything abrasive getting stuck underneath? I like the Velcro for cleaning---great idea!

nizzy1115: I like the looks of yours and especially that the sills cover the edge where I already have scuffed my paint. Sturdy enough to withstand someone stepping on them, like when waxing the car top? Thanks. Ed Hayes

That was my concern as well. The Velcro is actually surprisingly strong and great for cleaning.

No changes whatsoever in the sheet metal between '14 and '15 models so no worries.

After two weeks trying to put up with the smell I ripped them all out. With the sunroof open air will get sucked in through the door jambs carrying in the smell. Even after multiple wipes with pure IPA, the surrounding plastics still reek from the absorbed solvent. Try goggling benzyl chloride MSDS; excellent solvent but has no place in customer products. Returned a recliner to IKEA for the same issue (guess where it was made).

It took well over a month in my garage as well as a few days outside in the hot sun and some disinfectant spray to remove the smell from mine.
I tried putting mine in my car before the smell was gone, but I had to remove them after a day or two.

I'm thinking of getting the non-LED ones from ebay to put on my CX-5. I have plenty of chemicals that should be able to remove the smell, or at least, it's summer now so many days in the sun should work.

My question is, what 3M tape are you guys using to add to the back of these? There seems to be many options available for 3M automotive double sided tape, Is one better then the others?

Also, it looks like there is a rubber like seal on the outer edges of the door sill plates, is that correct?
