The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Why not just buy a random Mazda every month, Scrooge McDuck?

Sooo, on my way home from work this fellow in a WRX pulls along side of me and says he works for Cobb and is looking for MS6's to shoot install videos for. I was skeptical to say the least... We pulled off at an exit and chatted a bit. He seems official but we shall see. Hopefully I can get an intake out of the deal for a good price. Then once I use him up I'll pass him along to the rest of the MS6 and MS3 guys.

Staying stock huh?

An intake to resell i hope. they have nothing better than your current setup.

Really? My current setup seemed kinda janky... I don't need 3-1/2" for a KO4 and the MAF housing doesn't seal very well. If I can get a full Cobb replacement with the mounting bracket to hold the filter better I would prefer that.

What advantages are there to the HTP setup over the Cobb setup?

If relocating the ECU is not an issue, get 3.5". There are diminishing returns over the 3" but the larger diameter pipe reduces pressure drop in front of the compressor increasing its efficiency. Similar to how the 3" flows better than a 2.5"

Stay away from 4" as it generally causes some driveability issues.

I have to work tonight 2-10. Maybe later if one of the asswipes I work with decides they don't want to work. Beyond that I have no plans.

Welp, that settles that! haha, thanks Sho.

So, if any of you guys want anything from Cobb, let me know and I'll get you his contact info. You'll probably need a stock part to swap out with for video purposes though.

Thats only a 3" setup you have.

Every time I have stepped up in intake size I have felt that the car has felt less restricted. I started with a cobb Sri and tip then a 3" HTP now a 3.5" each time feeling better. I mean it's all butt Dyno but still I know they flow more air than the Cobb. Just my $0.02

It is? It's looks bigger than 3" (twss) but you should know.

And the Cobb FMIC is discontinued for the MS6. ANd it won't work with my upgraded PS cooler anyway. :(
