Will an ECU from a Canadian protege 5, work in a u.s model?

I am thinking about buying a Canadian ecu for my u.s protege 5 but I had some concerns about that ecu not being compatable with my car.. If anyone knows if this ecu would be compatable or not would greatly help me out.. Thanks for your help.
Chris

Why are you buying an ECU?
(I only ask because they seem very reliable and if this is to fix an issue - we may be able to help better troubleshoot it...)

Because I am running an MP3 ecu in my MP5 right now and I want to be able to run regular unleaded in my car, cause Im sick of paying 40 cents extra a gallon just to run premium..

Just run regular. The ECU will self-compensate. Then, when you want mo powah! just refill with good stuff.

You could also offer to swap with someone and get some ($100?) in the deal!

+1 I regularly ran 87 in my mp3

That's a great idea I didn't know the computer could self adjust. I thought that since it was tuned for 91 we had to run it or it would mess up the car. Thanks for the heads up. I really appreciate it.

I could offer to swap with someone plus some cash, but then I would be down a car, it's my dd :(

Glad to help!

If you 'never plan' to run premium again - someone would ship their ECU to you first. Then it is just ~10 minutes for you to swap and put back in the box to send back ;)

$100 plus shipping is still a good deal for someone ;)

I say keep the MP3 ecu unless you are really strapped for cash. Then when you sell your P5 you can say it is 'tuned' and you technically would be telling the truth, lol.

I would like to find one of the badges that say tuned by racing beat, and out it somewhere on my mp5. Either interior, or ex. I just think that would be pretty slick.

Do you have a picture of one? I want to see if I could maybe paint over the part that says mp3 and just keep the part that says tuned by racing beat.

U don't deserve an mp3 badge if all you would do is paint half the badge black. Would look like crap. If all u want is something that says tuned by racing beat get a decal made and slap it on your trunk
