So I am super excited about my new 5 And when I say new, I mean new to me... I got it pretty cheap because of high miles, and it has a manual transmission.

Mine has 199,500 Km's (123964 miles) I'd be interested in hearing about some high mile 5's !!

06 5MT just passed 63K. And a day doesn't pass when its not on the road, either.

Davicho, How is the 12 treating you? Do you miss your 08?

It's a love / hate thing I think. There's things I love about my new 12' but there's things I still love about my old 06'. Overall though, I'm in a better place with my 12' MZ5. The best way to describe the difference between them in a few words.

1st gen = fun, sporty little wagon
2nd gen = fun, sporty little wagon (grown up sophisticated version)

The two main changes being the engine and exterior design. In the engine department my 2nd gen wins hands down, but in the exterior design department my beloved 1st gen still hands my 2nd gen's ass over to her. With that said, I do love my sophisticated and grown up feel my new one provides.

For someone that has owned both, do you think the 12+ is buttoned together better than the 1st gen? I've had an 06, 08 and currently a 10 model. They have all had some annoying squeaks and rattles on the interior. Enough to make me second guess buying another Mazda in the future. Am hoping they made some improvements on the redesign that fixed this.

Seems the two 3's we had were the same. The 2004 model had some random noises on the interior. The 2010 3 we bought was solid.

Besides the random slight stress squeaks from the sliders when going up a driveway at a 45 degree angle this 2012+ generation most definitely feels way more buttoned up and solid.
