What have you done to your Mazda5 today?

Oh and I'll be getting another shift knob, I didn't realize how far in the auto shift rod would go in. I want it to stick out a bit more, I'll probably be getting a Blox 490 blue knob later when I get the blue shift boot.

One other small thing...your A/C knob is on the wrong side. Oh wait I have an '07. Always thought that little change was weird. Sweet idea with the manual shift look, may copy.

Plan on getting new tires today and doing the rear pads tomorrow. Recently added the rear bumper step plate/pad thing.

Notice anything... different?

Cool :), I never noticed it does not have a button-lock mechanism like my Honda van

Updated PCM yesterday. There were 2 updates. Cost 125 CDN at the dealer and took about 1 hour. Since upgrading, my car has stalled about 3 times while idling at stops. Hoping they were just due to the PCM being in the "learning" stage.

No, no you misread the fine print. You bought the upgrade that includes the auto start/stop feature with optional start pre-programmed in. I would have made a quick u-turn and chewed the ass right off the service manager if I were you.

Damn, Canadians always get the cool stuff :p. i-stop didn't make it down south due to the emissions

Stupid EPA and their insistent prattling about "global warming" LOL My steering wheel control interface thinga-majig showed up today so this weekend the 5 is getting an audio make-over.

Discovered that the adaptor harness I got is the wrong one, only 14 pins. Said some of my favorite bad words after making said realization AFTER i made all the wiring connections do-oh!

oil and filter change. Really need to get that canister conversion done, gonna try to order Ford parts if they are cheaper...

Seriously man. Coming from self experience with DIY oil changes on my old 2006 to now on my 2012 is like day and night difference. On the 2012 in addition to being a spin-on type of filter the splash shield even lines up perfectly to the filter. Making this DIY oil change a true 30 minute or less job unlike my old 2006 additional 15 mins of removing and installing the shield.

I finally got the header squared away. First off it was a pain in the butt for me but I got it done. For starters the factory manifold had to be cut in order for me to remove it from the car. One of the factory bolts that holds the converter snapped, then I had to go to the muffler shop to get a o2 bung welded in. After splicing wires for the 2nd o2 sensor, fixing a exhaust leak. I was rewarded with a check engine light. So I went back and made sure my o2 sensor wires connections were fine and they were. After dealing with the light for a few days I broke down and bought a 02 simulator. So far the light hasnt returned and I think I got that licked. I was going to do some post 0-60 times but after fooling with the car for a couple of weeks I said forget it. It does feel more peppier I must admit. But for what its worth I dont think the time involved was really worth the hassle.

That is good to know about the header (scratches header off to-do list) Davicho, i know, I have been procrastinating for ages on this. The worst thing is, I had purchased the parts to do the conversion on my 07 which got wrecked back in 08. The parts sat in my garage for better than three years until I finally threw them away when we moved. I know, I know WHY IN HELL WOULD YOU THROW AWAY SEVENTY DOLLARS WORTH OF PARTS?! I did, and shortly thereafter bought another 5:p Such is my life....

I should have let you know the secret. Don't follow the Mazda3 install method. Leave the lower/rear engine mount attached. Instead remove the upper engine mount. Using a jack and wood block to support the motor from below, lower the engine and let it roll forward as far as you can without stretching any wires or hitting the radiator fan. That'll give you enough room to lift the stock manifold out of the engine compartment from the top. It's still a muther though.

Front Sway Bar bushings replaced. Clunky noise that made the car sound cheap, now gone after this replacement. Picture shows the difference in design between the new one (left) and the old one (right). The new bushing feels a lot more rigid than the old one; which was very flimsy and soft and could be squeezed effortlessly with your fingers. I followed the DIY from this post. I feel much better about this car and now I'm zoom-zoomin again. (cabpatch)

Are those new oem or aftermarket bushings?

My 06 light lenses are starting to fog. A friend have a unfinished bottle of PlastX and decided to give it a try. It worked pretty well, cleared up the lenses on the headlights and rear brakes. It was really easy basically wipe on and rub off, took less than 10 minutes for all 4 corners. It did not bring it back to like new condition, probably can get better results with a buffer.
