The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I'll always take handling over HP anytime. Never understood having 300+ HP on a FWD car for a DD/track car. I understand for a drag car, but if you can't control or get the power down, its all for naught.

On a lighter note, fully detailed Lauri's 6. Washed, waxed and buffed it using my Craftsman 10" Buffer/Polisher, easy and fun to use. The wagon will be next, once Lauri gets home.

I hope you don't get the rain were getting. An as far as horsepower goes the only logical thing I can think of is, is its just a way for people to one up another. It sounds cool but pointless unless you can put it to the ground.

Did a compression test today since I finally had time to work on my MSP and my neighbor bought one a a garage sale and wanted to test it out. Readings were 0 - 25 - 5 - 75 & 0 - 30 - 30 - 30. Not sure how accurate it is but cylinder #1 (passenger side) never got a reading so there's my problem. Hoping to do some more work tomorrow and remove the head.

I still have those blocks and stuff, should you be interested.

not sure what I want to do yet, I'm going to think about it for a week. My block didn't have a hole blown thru the side so it might be good still but won't know until someone smarter than me tells me what's what. Might need a crankshaft though.

So... I started the miata yesterday. I'd love to post the video but it refuses to upload to YouTube from my phone for no apparent reason. :/

Found the bolt that holds on my intake came gear to the camshaft in 2 pieces. Pictures are on Facebook. Could that be my only issue or is that probably one of my issues?

I haven't got that far yet. Was kinda hoping I wouldn't have to pull the head too but it might make installing the oem intake mani easier.

Isn't the FS-DE non-interference? I don't think you would have bent a valve. I would just fix the cam and try firing it up. It might not be perfect since I believe you ran it out of oil, but if it runs.. great! Makes it easier to sell if that is your goal.

It is non-interference so I'm hoping all the valves are ok. I'll put my stock camshafts back in along with putting back the stock rear mount and intake mani and hope for the best as far as the bottom end goes. Hopefully it works just fine, atleast enough to trade it in at some point and not have to worry about it anymore.

Yikes, Nate. Is that an OEM bolt and was it torqued correctly?

And vinyl wrapping a car suuuuuucks. I don't know why anyone would want to do this professionally. Like a piano mover. I'm going to pick up some Plastidip right now.

You can reach out to Block A Chip and see of they can help you out. I am sure that they can help you and they can come to your house or office. It should be only labor since you have the product already.

Evan dont give up on the wrap. The plastidip will look like s***. just have somepatience and watch videos on wrapping

I got pulled over going 91/65 and the cop was older and extremely nice, not angry, nothing. A few hours later (at 2am) I got pulled over for 80/65 by a younger cop who was pissed off I was going that fast. There was NO ONE around.

I think it just depends on the cop. I've never had any issues going 75 in a 65. But on the news they rode with a trooper and he pulled someone over for going 81 in a 70. Ehhhhh. Kinda stupid to raise the real speed limit and crack down for the same "speed over" amount IMO. Breaking the law is breaking the law I guess. Whatever. I can see 90 vs 80 but only 81? Meh.

i got pulled over 4.5 years ago in PA for 65 in a 55... coming down a ******* mountain, where even if you ride your brakes you cant keep it at 55, he was really nice about everything but still wouldnt let me off...

Like AJ said, dont give up cause its getting tough. heat, heat and more heat and its DEFINITELY not a job for one person, you need atleast a second (probably better with a 3rd or 4th set of hands) the Vinyl will look alot better than Plasti-dip will

Yes & Yes. Followed the corksport camshaft installation to a t. Torque wrench is a pretty new Craftsman so it should be accurate.

Left it with the intake mani off so I can get to the rear motor mount and swap those out as well. Getting the bottom bolts on the stock intake mani look like they are going to be tricky.
