some guy down in Grove Port was selling an incomplete injen cold air intake for the protege for $40, so i figured i'd pick it up since that seemed pretty cheap. It's a bit* rough, someone painted it with some sticky smelly black paint, it only came with one 70mm coupler (one of the two that connect to the MAF) and the pipe that connects the filter to the MAF has a flat spot/dent in it. I imagine one of it's previous owners might have used it to squash a spider and in the squashing process dented the pipe a bit.
It's not a huge* flat spot, but i wouldn't call it small. It's about an inch wide, and a little longer than an inch.
I wanted to know if, since the dent is up stream of the MAF, air going past the imperfection in the pipe would mess up the MAF's reading? I feel like i wanna' push the dent out but i think as soon as i try i'll get a crack in the pipe...
the area where the MAF connects to that pipe is a little chewed up as well, but i feel like i can smooth that part out easily.
I'd also like to know what size hose to use for attaching the intake pipes to the throttle body. The throttle body outer diameter is like 58mm correct? Somewhere around there... someone recommend using a 2.5" hose on that, so i guess i'd need a 2.5-2.75 inch hose with a 90 degree bend to replace the one that came with the injen originally eh? I appreciate any info-
-i don't know what they painted this thing with, but it's sticky and it makes my hands itch.
