Ditch that purple piece of junk evan! Go back to stock for the time being. If you want to upgrade lmk i have a synapse i don't use anymore. (switched to tial q)

Anyone know what this goes to?

Reason I'm asking these questions is we took in an 08 MS3 that threw a rod through the block and am curious of how much it would be to fix it.

Haha ya I got the feeling the purple BPV was junk. There's a big myth that the stock BPV leaks over time. However, my stock BPV only has about 40k miles on (I think it was Ivan that gave me his stock BPV after upgrading). I may just upgrade to be on the safe side. Is the synapse full recirc and how much? Also, what does it sound like? I want to stay away from the ninja fighting sound of the Forge V1 LOL!!

I believe a new long block from Mazda is about $4500 + shipping if I recall when doing my research.

Yeah its full recirc and just your normal whoosh sound. I can do 175 for it. I would still be using it if it would run VTA without hiccups.

Can you get any more pictures? Does it look like it plugs into anything?

Non-standard tuning would be my guess also, although I've never seen anything that small.
The "monitor" cable in the glove box is probably a serial cable. Rip that s*** out and flash the ecu to stock if you are planning on rebuilding the car. I wouldn't trust whatever software is on it right now.

I wouldn't either considering the new hole in the bottom of the engine. (lol2)

Call the individual that traded it in and ask them. Then you won't have to worry as much. It's not like you can give it back to him at this point so he has nothing to be worried about as far as losing anything. Just be honest with them.

Since you're taking cars that don't work, how about a MSP?

Anyone know how to diagnose brake bleeding issues? I didn't have any trouble whatsoever when I installed SS lines back in 2010 and now that I replace the MC I can't seem to get all the air out. I've bled the MC twice and the lines three times and I'm still getting a squishy pedal.

Do you have speed bleeders? If so, reapply hi-temp thread sealant to the threads to ensure that you aren't sucking any air into the lines.

I had some issues this spring when I let all of the fluid drain out of the lines, it just took a lot of time and bleeding to get all of the air out of the lines. Make absolutely certain that you got all of the air out of the MC. A mityvac or similar can help force fluid through the hard lines.

That's a thought, but I'm not going to call him up and say, "What the hell did you do to this freaking car??". Just curious as to what it was.

As long as you have it towed in.

You might have another bad master cylinder.
