The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

thats why I think I may be able to get them on the cheap lol. I want them, how much would you pay for them?

I would pay $500 because I know that's how much I sold them to him for. But to the right person they are probably worth more. At least when I handed them over with the car they were darn near perfect. I just never found the "right" person and I had them for sale for about 6 months.

Go 225, Chris. What's your wheel specs?

Patrick, offer that cat your stockers and trade him straight up. haha

That's a good idea.

Good job, when mounting the 235's most tire manufacturers will tell you that yhou need a minimum of an 8" wide wheel.......I have a couple sets of new 235/40/17's that I need to scrub...BFG-R-1's and Toyo 888's in my garage and I have some use Hoosiers too and a set of Pirelli 245/40/17's.....

I've read some people who know a lot more about tires than I do say that a good rule of thumb is to take the tread width (not section width) of the tire and pick the next size up wheel based on that. I.E. 9.2" tread width = 9.5" wheel. This is all with the idea of maximizing the tire's performance of course.

my day has been made. Hopefully he gets back to me soon. I hate staring at my phone waiting for someone to text me

Am I doing this right, Will?

eww 215's on a 18x8 wheel I'll have to get those taken off and he can put those on the stock wheels I have and I'll put man tires on the pf01's like they should have

What's pretty much how I feel about all stretched tires though.

Man tires are going to require manly amounts of fender work. :)

In all seriousness, he is having "fitment problems" with the 215-45-18s he put on. I was running 225-40-18s with no problems at all. The difference between the two is his tires are 0.14" taller. So I have no idea what is going on...

It'd be really awesome to see someone from here rocking the PF01s, I liked those wheels a lot.

me either. you were lower than what I am and I can't go much lower. But I want 235 or 245 on them. I have 235 on my 18x8 right now and am not having an issue. I will take the wheels from him then help him later figure out what is rubbing. did you ever dremel out that bracket that holds the rear quarter panel to the rear bumper? because I was rubbing there will I filed it down

what about 235/40 to keep the speedo closer to correct

The 235 tire is only slightly thicker in the side wall. I'm pretty sure it's a percentage of width and sidewall, not an actual dimension. But I never cared how close my speedo was. I'm always speeding anyway. "Son, do you know how fast you were going? - Umm, not really. How off is my speedo?". lulz.

well i get pulled over for going 51 in a 50 so I want it close.

GPS check is always on in my car, partially cause WAZE reports real time speed traps and camera locations.

Just put whatever sized tires you want and drive past one of those speed limit signs with the real time speed and make a mental note of how far off your speedo is.

Gear ratio should be your main concern.

So Evan L. the super sports dont come in 225/40 or 235/40 :(
205/45ZR17 (88Y)
205/45ZR17 (88Y)
215/45ZR17 (91Y)
225/45ZR17 (94Y)
235/45ZR17 (97Y)
245/40ZR17 (95Y)
245/45ZR17 (99Y)

Yea, I call BS. If I get pulled over for 1mph over the limit, I will fight it until it's dropped.

^ i agree, i have a buddy that is a state trooper in pa and they have a general rule of thumb "9 your fine, 10 your mine" meaning they generally dont even bother unless you are doing 10 over... Im calling bs on the 1 over... And dont use the excuse you have cars that stand out, ive had army green and orange metallic wheels and a roof rack and stick out like a sore thumb and ive never once gotten pulled over with the car in either of those set ups haha
