CX-5 Rear Bumper Protector (NON-OEM)

I definitely wish someone would make one like that. I think that looks much more "stealth" than the OEM one and like you stated it doesn't protect very much realestate. However, it'd be nice if someone other than Bushwacker made it. I've always found their plastic to be very cheap feeling and highly prone to fade.

I had originally ordered my car without the OEM bumper guard, as it turned out I took delivery of another vehicle early that had the OEM bumper guard. I knew I wanted the guard as soon as I received the car so I ordered a Chinese one just like the one in the attachment, it looked identical, but without the "CX5". When it arrived it was actually flat, it had the ribs, but did not wrap around the top lip of the bumper, like the one pictured. I did query the Chinese seller that the part differed from the picture, but received no response. I kept the one I received as a backup for the OEM one.
Try to get an answer before you order the Chinese guard.

Does the OEM wrap around the lip? It looks like it does not, but I cannot get a large photo of it.
If the Chinese one does not wrap around the lip as shown, does the OEM one offer better protection?

Thanks

The OEM does not wrap around. The flat chinese that I have in the garage would cover more surface then the OEM, it is bigger in all dimensions. The OEM one has served its function well, it has many scrapes on it, and the paint is scratch free.

I think I am going to get this and plastidip the top in flat black. Can any one explain why aliexpress has the same product at a dozen different price points? :)

This link was dead when I tried it. This one looks like it wraps around a bit.

Is it the same one? I'm not confident that I'd get the same exact pictured item if I order from this site.

So I got it and there is no lip. Grrrr. It was also conveniently bent into a circle to get it into a box. Now, there is no damage, there are no creases from them "rolling" it for packaging, so I am going to give it a shot, since I was loading cases into the back this weekend and it would have appreciated something there. So the original plan applies, going to spray it with plastidip, add a strip of double stick tape down the middle (only the edges are already done) and see how it look. Probably the weekend after next. I'll post pics and comments when I am done.

Here it is rolled, but out of the box:

Maybe I'll keep the blue plastic. It was crazy mirror shiny with it off. No way.

I added the wide tape in the middle:

Flash went off and overexposed the pic, so this is PhotoShoped:

So overall I'm pretty happy. PlastiDip was real easy to work with (and props to dipyourcar.com who has great how to videos) and I am happy with the results. I did 5 or 6 coats, so I am hoping it holds up to abuse.
