Cuyahoga Valley National. I drove from Brecksville to Peninsula and back.

During the summer, I drive through there almost every day to and from work. (drive2) I love that area, there are some really good roads I wish I could close and hold a racing event on HAHACuyahoga Valley National. I drove from Brecksville to Peninsula and back.
Yikes at that accident!
For those of you that track your cars, do you swap rotors along with pads before/after events? Only asking as my bro-in-law needs new front pads on his 05 Tribute but the rotors are in pretty good shape. So was thinking he might be able to save a few bucks and just swap new pads in without getting them machined? I did some web browsing earlier and have come up with arguments for both sides on why you shouldn't do it (possibly warp the rotors, ruin the new pads) and that it's ok to do. Figured I'd get some first hand experience from you guys/gals. If you don't change the rotors, would the bed-in practice be the same?
Thanks!

Here's a map of part of the route I take to work LINK HERE! Next time you're in the area, check out that route

A rally through the park would be awesome for sure! Dangerous, but awesome. Haha.
I pretty much did that exact thing today except that I took Riverview all the way to Peninusula.
that looks like a fun little cruise!
to this day, THIS is still one of my favorite sections of road to cruise... weaving up and down 2 different mountains in about a 20-25 mile stretch, i know there are better roads/sections for cruising and blasting through twisties but that stretch is just so much fun as long as you dont hit traffic haha
About 2 years ago, a few of us Ohio Mazdas went to a meet near there. Was that the same park area we were in? I remember there were some sick roads.
yea i was the one that set up that meet/cruise haha
That was a fun meet/cruise. That's when you played with the Maxima on the way back, right?
The Pittsburgh area definitely has the topography to make for exciting roads.
It isn't necessary to replace the rotors as long as they still meet the minimum thickness stamped on the edge of the rotor itself. The bed-in process would be determined by the pad that is going in. If no bed-in instructions are provided, I would assume that that process will happen over the course of normal driving (or at least that's what the manufacturer assumes).
But just to be on the safe side, you'll want to bring the pad up to it's optimum operating temperature through a series of medium to hard braking maneuvers (in a controlled environment of course), and then continue to use the brakes a few more times with medium stops to create that new transfer layer of material on the rotor.
Just to be on the safe side, whenever I change pad compounds I change the rotors as well. If I stick with the same pads, and they're easy on rotors, I'll run a couple sets of pads on them.![]()
We should all hit up that fun run route that was basically cancelled last year that Marc and I did last fall. That route was a blast even though it rained and I spun my car. Good Times! Maybe we can plan that one around the weekend of Mid-Ohio or something?
so I found some rust bubbling under the paint on one of my rear wheel wells...Josh is the body shop guy, right? think its worth trying to get fixed? i'm planning on selling/trading in probably in the next year.
We have done that several times. problem is that everyone is suffering from track hangover after 2-3 days at the track. really kicks your ass.We should all hit up that fun run route that was basically cancelled last year that Marc and I did last fall. Depending on how bad it is, I might just wait until it's closer to getting rid of it. If it's not bad, and you'd like it to look nice for the rest of the time you own it, then that wouldn't be a terrible idea. But, if there is really a hole behind all that scale rust, and you fix it now, it'd suck if the rust came back before you went to sell it, then you're stuck fixing it again to make it look nice, or taking less money for the car due to "imperfections".
Pics? My passenger side front lower quarter panel is getting really bad, definitely a hole by now.![]()
