How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

Only done 2K and level just under 1/2 way between full and X mark. I have the old X mark dipstick. I was unable to read dipstick correctly until i'd done about 800 miles and maybe its risen 1mm? I have a 1000 mile trip coming up shortly so will check oil level again after that. So I estimate at worst it might need attention around the 5K Mark, if it gets the ecu update AND a new dipstick that should it fixed.

mileage - my high score is 68.7mpg but normally getting around 50. In town around 45. Vibrating mirrors not seen it happen up to 70mph , maybe I need to go faster? It could be more pronounced with the 19" tyres due to harder ride.

I've test driven four CX5's only one had the vibrating mirror, and it was noticeable at 60mph! And only the drivers side appeared to be affected.

Ive not heard much wind noise at all although I have read about it a lot.

Maybe with wider mirrors for towing, the vibration will be damped down, the extra weight might just help? I need to ask my Dad about his old Cortina, tutti fruity purple, not sure if the mirrors vibrated!

I find it a bit strange that there is a 150ps and 175ps (not sure what bhp exactly) diesel models. Why didnt they just make a 165ps model and save costs? I find the power and torque of the 150ps more than enough so I went for that one. The biggest gripe from my side is the support from the seat when cornering, or lack of. Any kind of spirited driving has me hanging on to the wheel, there simply isnt any bulk on the seats to hold you in place.

the 175ps is only for the awd. Strange that the new mazda 6 gets 175ps in fwd so it's not exactly like the fwd cant handle 175ps on the chassis. It is just a chip re-programming difference between the 150ps awd and the 175ps awd IMHO as they have the same co/2 figures and economy.

I have the 175 AWD, I haven't experienced the vibrating mirrors, but my fuel consumption is disastrous, getting 38mpg on long runs of around 100 miles.

I have the 175 AWD auto, computer currently @ 39.2 mpg, 80% shortish (8-10 mile) journeys, 20% longer runs. I drive fairly economically-minded most of the time so others may well get worse figures.

In the first few months the comp showed 42.2 for a long time but steadily fell over the colder months. I have not reset it since July.

Hoping that warmer weather / service in May / resolution of oil-dilution might improve it a bit.

My 2.2 150ps Diesel 2WD should be here at the beginning of April. Ordered it in white as I a) objected to being nearly railroaded into an extra 520 and b) have suffered bad matching when repairing metallic/pearlescent finishes.

Am considering a vinyl wrap, though, to hopefully keep the paintwork in top nick. Nothing fancy - just a colour wrap. Any thoughts?

Still looking for DAB radio option out there. At the moment this is the most annoying thing about the car. Having Android phones rules out using the iPod compatibility option too. For shame.

Edit: Upgrading from a Volvo C30 DRIVe which did us when it was just the wife & I, but ISOFIX car seats are now a requirement, so looking forward to the combo of masses extra space and keeping high fuel efficiency.

I did some research into dab radios, as i fancied one for when i go fishing.

Two things i quickly learnt, they eat batteries, and the reception can be very patchy, and they cost more.

So really i couldn't see the point, instead bought a solar powered windup radio that can be charged via USB.

Not really on my car wish list, but a sunroof would have been welcome, i have a panoramic one at the moment, same as my last Xtrail, will miss it.

had my bonnet and front bumper clear wrap with 3m ventureshield. seems good so far. I negotiated free met. paint. A colour wrap could look really good on a white car. the bumper left small areas uncovered due to the styling of the front. A template cutout was used rather than a full wrap.

Just a quick question.

Does the car come with a jack? in the UK.

Yes, jack, locking wheel nut key, electric pump, tyre repair foam and a couple of different lengths towing eyes.

Just to follow up, car now ordered for end of July delivery.
Also ordered mats and flaps, boot liner, and full sized wheel with poly' surround.

Car is 175 sport nav AWD, manual, in silver.

I hope you enjoy your new toy when it arrives.

Had Mine into the Dealers for a look at the TPM system last week which refuses to cancel its warning ( after following the reset procedure). While there had a chat with the tech working on my car rather than Service reception - who don't understand much about cars in my experience. The software for the DPF was updated but no mention of a revised Dipstick, as I have yet to suffer from rising oil I'm not too concerned yet, but its seems that Mazda UK are able to give dealers a push when needed (as in the previous post).

Don't know if the theory I have holds any weight, but MPG seems much better now the ambient temp is rising. Given that this is a Low compression engine for a diesel, I can't help thinking that lower temps leads to more frequent requirements for Regeneration and therefore worse MPG figures.?(thumb)

Just an update to the above post. I managed to cancel the TPM warning by resetting the Interval for Tyre pressure warning within the servicing menu.

I have now got the car booked in for an FOC oil & filter change and new dipstick with Miles covered 3200 - Dealer phoned through to Mazda Technical and they Ok'd it, but I have had a wait for the part to arrive.

MPG is slowly improving ( up to 40.5 MPG which is OK for a Diesel Auto but hardly outstanding) As I drive economy minded on mainly motorway miles at 60-65mph I was hoping for much better than this, but from other comments the MPG does seem to be weather dependent. I plan to do a reset of the MPG monitor after the Oil change and see how that affects things.

Anyone bought and fitted the mudflaps from ebay, around 26?
If so are they of good quality, and fit?

At present I've ordered a set with the car, but at 75 i am starting to think I'm paying too much, i assume the 75 includes fitting.

don't know about that but I'm getting crap on the rear black part of the bumper without mud flaps so I'll be getting rear flaps as a minimum.

It has been very cold recently. only managed 50+ mpg at around 65 mph when it was 10 deg. C a couple of weeks ago I managed 68+ mpg on the same trip.

Is that an Instantaneous figure of the Average for the Trip?, It's easy to get into 50+ mpg when cruising but the Average Figure is the one that counts at the pumps. PP

Driving to the shops today, 30mph, 4th gear, car stuttered a little bit, thought nothing of it, then done it a few mins later. Popped into shops, started the engine and engine inspection warning and engine symbol are on. Car had a slight stutter on way home too. Its Easter weekend, garage isnt open until Tuesday.....not a happy bunny!

Hi there,
Interested to hear if anyone else has been having Tomtom problems, particularly with Live Service, mine went into dealer in Newport on Friday having lost the Live Services. Dealer couldn't sort it and will be ringing Mazda UK Tuesday, sounds like I need a new head unit. Dealer said there was another CX5 booked in with a similar problem next week. Clearly there's an issue with the Tomtom unit, not impressed!
