Car won't go in gear... Help!!

I recently replaced the tranny and I drove it a few days and now when I go start the car it's tough to get the car into first gear.. It feels super stiff. Car will still move but It will not go into second fourth or fifth but can go into first third and reverse but it's tough. It won't go in those gears even with the car off.. What could it be ? Clutch ? Transmission?

This is probably a silly question, but have you checked the tranny fluid? Any launching off the line that could have ripped up the LSD?

it won't go in gear even with the car off? check your shift fork, bearing, clutch installment, proper torque on bolts and release bearing (this means pulling the tranny (bolt) )

if everything seems to be fine, then it is something with the gears themselves. who replaced the transmission? where did you get it?

Yeah the tranny fluid is full..

I put in the tranny myself. Thought I put on everything right and tight.. Yeah I'm planning on taking the tranny apart again to check it out. I bought it off another guy off craigslist... It's just weird how I can get into those gears with the car on or off and it still drives in first and third and reverse.

Yeah it is weird, he could have sold you a transmission with broken parts though. If everything is fine, you are gonna want to pull the cover and check the gear set. PITA

Yeah I heard something that it could be the shift fork? Something like that. Idk I'm pissed ! Back in the garage it goes

Is the shift fork expensive to fix ? Or is it something easy enough to figure out myself ?

The shift forks are like 40 bucks each but you have to take the gears out to replace them.

It depends how experienced you are with taking a tranny apart..

I can get the tranny out the car but I've never actually taken a tranny apart and looked at the gears..

Have fun taking it apart..if you decide to actually disassemble it take a lot of pictures. That's what I do whenever I rebuild a trans!
