Is this a good deal?

Hey guys,

New 'round these parts....I got what I think is a good offer on a new 2012 Mazda5 Touring with Moonroof and Audio package. Price is $19,000(us) plus tax plus tag transfer.

Is this a good deal?

Thanks in advance.

Craig

Didn't know you can get a Touring with a moonroof until I just checked on mazdausa and sure enough it's part of a package, at least on 2013's. $19k sounds a bit too low for new, that's sport trim territory, especially since this Touring has a moonroof package, it should be stickering for at least $22k. Is it new or used? How many miles? If it's new, is there something physically wrong with it that the dealer want's it off the lot so fast?? I know they will usually try to cut a deal to get the 2012's off the lot. Let me guess, does it have a sand beige interior?? The light interiors are hard to move, even with leather.

Otherwise, if the car checks out, for $19k it's a steal. My 2012 Touring cost me $21 and change. Also, be on the lookout, some of the Tourings and Grand Tourings that have the 17 inch wheels have a vibration in the steering from factory. I just got done fighting with Mazda over it, it seems the Toyo tires that come on the vehicle are just bad. If you do buy it, just know that you may have to warranty the tires with Toyo if yours does have the vibration.

When our dealer offered a new Touring with Moonroof+Audio package for under $20k I jumped on it. I was also looking at a Ford Flex SE, Chrysler Town & Country Touring, and similar vehicles that listed for $10k+ more that had minimal discounting, even with me being a Ford and Chrysler partner. You're getting yours a bit cheaper, but keep in mind the 2013 is out so your first year depreciation hit is baked in already. The 2013 did not change much at all though.

Right now the local dealers out here are asking just under $19k for a 2012 Touring with Moonroof and Audio. They are sitting on a lot of inventory however.

Yeah there's no way a Mazda dealer in Jersey will let's car like that go for $19 they'd sit and wait it out, then again there's so many ppl here LoL its only a matter of time someone comes and pays full price.

Thanks for the reply guys. I may move forward on the deal today. The actual numbers are as follows:

2012(New) Mazda5 Touring with Moonroof and Audio package: $18,337
Dealer fee(yes I know this is B.S. but the Car price is low): $699
Tag transfer: $150
Sales Tax(6%): $1,151.16

OTD: $20,337.16

I am going to make a last ditch attempt to share this offer with competing dealers to see if anyone can beat it.

How long do you think the dealer can or want to hold on to a "last years model" and a low volume selling car to boot? That's not very smart business in my opinion. There's also the regional demand factor and current promotions.

If the 2013 Touring MSRP for ~$22k new, $19ish for 2012 Touring +TTT sounds about right. You have to keep in mind it is last years model and easily lost over $1k in depreciation already. I'm not sure if the 2012 qualifies for the 0% apr promo (assuming good credit) but a slightly discounted 2013 with 0% apr might be the better deal bc you can pay it off gradually (while making interest on the retaine sum and more liquid with your money, just don't go to vegas) and the car holds more resale value.

Sounds like a good deal. Just make sure it is not a demo car. Thanks for sharing your purchase and hope to see you around!
