The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

The tibia bone is broken at ~45 degrees and a little below it it's broke straight accross and that piece is offset. The surgery would be putting a plate and some screws in to hold the bone in place so it heals straight. Without the surgery (providing the bone doesn't shift more) the bone will still heal but will have a little "jog" in it. Recovery time is the same. Pretty good difference in money out of pocket though. I'm not a big fan of the surgery idea, but I don't want to have issues in the future with a bone thats not right. So I'm torn between the options to say the least.

No one that I know of, but seems like a pretty good deal. Body looks solid. If I had the money I would buy it.

he was tryin' to sell that spicy for $800 a while ago. Part of his sales pitch was he knew a guy with a KL that you could swap into it (it was a roller- no engine or transmission) but it looks like he didn't sell it and tried to do another KL swap. Poor spicy, poor Tom

Well, my mom had something similar happen: had a stupid innocent looking fall and broke a bone on her foot. She had surgery similar to what you describe, she is fine now but it bothers her a bit when its really cold. The plate would stay in place, and I doubt the screws are bio-degradable so that's something to consider. On the other hand, taking the chance of it not healing correctly by itself is not something I'd personally do.

that does look like a good deal, not that interested in proteges though

How was everyone's New Years Eve?

working at the garage, made some nice extra money for Daytona

I decided that I am going to have the surgery. I don't want to take a chance on it not healing right. I just hope they can set it up soon, I'd rather not wait for it to partially heal and then have the surgery done.

good choice. I told marlon what happened to you and right away he said "go with the surgery" - i told him to put his $.02 in but i guess he hasn't had time, and looks like you've already made up your mind to go that route. keep us posted!!

Larry go the route of surgery, it is your best bet.......glad that you are going that route.

Surgery just makes more sense. I just hate to be put under anestesia (thats spelled wrong haha), I worry they won't be able to bring me out. Gotta do whatcha gotta do I guess.

I hate waking up from anesthesia, always fell like s*** for 3 or 4 hours. Can't go back to sleep and can't be fully awake\coordinated.

Jess just sent me a text that she's out drifting the Smart. haha
Of course. I think I got a good 6+ hours of sideways action in over my break. Oh hey, look at that parking lot over there *drift drift drift* back onto road... oooh look at THAT parking lot... *drift drift drift* ... etc. I was at Rolling Acres for at least an hour the one day.

Be safe everyone. Route 8 was a mess around lunch time, people sliding off the road or into the concrete divider.
I got on at Steeles and off at Front St after seeing a Z4 in the divider, a Passat in the ditch, and a 4 car accident on the other side. Oh, and the inability to control where my car went with what little weight it has on the front tires (jerkit)

Yeah, my biggest worry is always everyone else on the road. People just dont understand how physics work, and next thing you know; you have someone sliding towards you in a giant SUV with no idea how to control their vehicle.
This perfectly explains a situation I got into when I worked in Brecksville. Guy in Durango gunned it to pull out in front of me on 21 and got sideways, guy that was next to me slammed on his brakes, I sped up and went left (real close to center island) to barely miss Durango as he spun. Other guy caught up to me and was yelling at me. Ok asshole, want me to try and brake and slide right into him? My only choice in those bad conditions was to try and miss him... people... I swear.

But I think guys are much more open and/or want to learn to drive manual than women. It seems most women won't even consider the idea of driving/owning a manual. Of course there are the exceptions like Lauri, Linda, Tessa, etc. Just making an observation.
.........I have had manuals for all of my vehicles. Except the Smart. I can shift it, but it's not the same. Sometimes coming up to stoplights is weird and jerky as it tries to downshift and slow itself.

(inout) All the new Mazdas are fugly, IMHO. Except for the brand new 6.
Ditto. The 2 only got away with the big grin because it was so cute and little, lol.

+1 I see double and can't stop puking :(

Happy New Year All!!

Good choice on going with the surgery Larry and know what you mean about going under. I've only been under once, when my wisdome teeth were pulled and felt like s*** afterwards. Have a zoom-zoom recovery!

I was out when I had my wisdom teeth out too. Coming out groggy was weird but when they turned on, WOW did it feel awesome! (lol2)

When I went under for my wisdom teeth, I wouldn't wake up. ******* sucked.

I have been under a hand full of times (I was a rowdy child) But with my experiences if you get put to sleep through the IV then its fine and I wake up ok then I fall back asleep once I get home and I'm asleep for the rest of the day and fine the next. But on the other hand if they try and put you asleep through the mask... Its terrible and horrible in all sorts of ways, that only happened once to me, your brain is the last to go to sleep and you cant move anything but you can still hear and comprehend everything. I hate the feeling of not being in control. Ok there is my .02 and a half lol

Because of my bad relationship with the anesthesia, I didn't get put under for my wisdom teeth. I was awake the whole time, they just used localized numbing crap. I could feel and hear the teeth shattering. The bottom ones came out in 4 pieces. Yay!

BTW, redheads require more anesthesia.
