What have you done to your P5 today?

I came very close to doing painting my wheels that color for the winter... and then I got lazy (2thumbs) lol

looks good

Circuit, I demand more pics of the Recaro's. I had a set from an Evo8 in my P5 and I loved them. They're in my friends 626 now and I miss them every time we go somewhere in his car. I bet the Evo9's are even nicer.

Whoa...congrats Phen and while sad to see her go, at least she served her purpose and even made you a few bucks in the end. I got a pic on the home pc of the Trinity in Carlisle and remember you playing Fast and Furious on the dvd player. lol

Kyle...liking the new winter look although the key lime was sweet too. I was lazy and never got around to repainting mine this year.

As for my P5, I'm ready to pull the trigger on motor mount inserts vs. buying new OEM mounts from OMP. Looking for opinions/reasons why I should/shouldn't....so blast away. My reasons for are simple, OEM front and PS mount will cost $162.71 + shipping or I can upgrade the front to CS mounts (80 durometer) and get the AWR insert kit for both side mounts (as of now leaning towards 88 vs 70)....which will cost $96.98 shipped. So, I can save a few bucks and do a little upgrade too.... Just wish that CS made side mount inserts or AWR made front mount inserts so I could buy them all from the same company.

I would go all inserts, I know Tom hated the rear AWR for NVH. I still haven't installed mine for that reason. Oh and it's a lot of work for a lazy guy like me..

Well, I have them in my carts on both AWR's and CS's sites...just waiting to pull the trigger. Going to call CS once they open to see if they stopped doing the points thing. I have a previous order with no points awarded and figured it can't hurt to call and ask...if it was discontinued, no big deal...if my profile needs to be updated, I can save a few bucks. Oh yeah, heard many horror stories about that rear mount and NVH so going to avoid it for that reason plus the fact I'm a lazy guy like you. Now, what duro AWR mounts do I want????

Are you planning in keeping the car a while, Jeff? Ircc, you were thinking about moving on a while ago. If you're keeping her I would say get real MM with a lower durometer. I never liked the way CS and AWR inserts fit with the zip ties and crap. Or maybe just use that window seal mod on your stockers?

That's the plan now Evan. If things go as planned, I'll be handing the keys over to my daughter around this time next year and my dd will be a Miata. I realized I wouldn't get anything for trade value for the car so why trade it in for a couple thousand and a year later have a third driver in the house. If finances are good I'll have the Miata and she'll have her own transportation, if not, I'll just keep driving the car until it falls apart (literally from rust). lol

I hear ya about real MM but considering the rust and the fact that I just want to keep the car maintained and on the road I'm not looking to dump $400 into mounts at this time. A couple of years ago, I would have. Just figured if I can do the inserts (and I agree...seems like a crazy fitment with zip ties), I'll save some cash and it will be a minor upgrade as well. I've heard of the window seal mod but never researched it...wonder if that would be good enough to pass inspection since I failed for having two mounts torn?

I have had zip ties holding my side inserts in for some time now...I don't even remember when I did the install. They are quite solid though.

Good to hear Ryan and just looked into the window weld...um yeah...not going to do that. From what I can gathter that would make the car vibrate worse than the stiffest mounts, just my interpretation. Plus I think the inserts will be more user friendly when re-installing the mounts.

Many pics will be posted once I get them in. Unfortunately I had to custom order a set of brackets from Wedge since the Evo9 rails are much wider than normal sparco rails. I have to wait 3-4 weeks :(

I have a set of brand new CS front and rear engine mount inserts Ill let go for cheap. They are just collecting dust. I can post a FS thread if you would like.

Jeff, I used long skinny bolts and body washers to hold my inserts in place and they have been doing a great job. so i recommend that for the passenger side insert.

so how many of you guys have a good amount of rust on the strut tower behind the passenger motor mount? im wondering how long it can go for before the car shouldnt be driven anymore because i know fixing that thing will cost A LOT

Installed AWR adjustable endlinks. Wetsanded my headlights and clear coated them, pulled my fenders in to minimize the gap to the hood, got my order status that my Projector retrofit kit has shipped

Thanks but just saw this post. I ordered the CS front inserts and AWR side inserts earlier this afternoon. Start a f/s thread anyway, I'm sure someone will pick them up.

Thanks Kyle, I'll keep that in mind when they come in.

Got the same rust as you and at this point not going to touch it. Afraid the whole fender may crumble to dust if I do. lol

As mentioned, inserts are ordered. Used some reward points from CS and picked up the front inserts in black for $26 shipped! :) Played the safe route considering the wife will drive the car from time to time and got the 70 durometer inserts from AWR.

I bought a Turtle headlight kit, it comes with lube, buffing compound, and 4 different grit sanding pads, a sealing wipe, and 1 clear glove *wink wink*. I'm saving that for my Mazda3 and used 800grit wet or dry on my headlights with spray clear.

I was just about to ask what grit you were using for it. I think I need to do this over my Christmas break.

Does anyone know offhand what the piston ring gap specs are for the 2.0? Or where I can look to find em? Sorry if im pestering you guys. Also, what's a safe way to get the wrist pins out of the rods? I read heating them up helps? :S I are lost. I also read that a pneumatic press would work but im kinda short on money to buy one of those. :)

Any help would be appreciated.

On that note, I can say im one step closer to getting her running! :)
