What have you done to your MSP today?

Picking up a 2002 626 engine to replace mine with on Friday. Higher mileage than my motor, but what can you do? I'm just gonna turn the boost down, and not run so much whp on the stock rods.

it's the tq thats killing your rods. That's how Rich's (505zoom) motor has survived for so long he always pulls a bunch of timing at peak tq to limit the stress on the rods. i know you go to the track alot though so that might not be the answer for you.

I've been running a motor with 223k miles on it that has never seen any boost until last month and she is still running good, but I'm running on stock boost and only have about 190 at the wheels.

What all non msp power mods do you have? I saw the intake and the 626 mani and heard the vibrant :p

lol nothing produces powa.
AEM short ram intake (soon to be boxed with direct flow)
Mishimoto Radiator w/ dual fans
Mishimoto FMIC
Vibrant 3"
626 ported and polished intake manifold
Thunder v2 exhaust manifold

Like I said nothing too much for the motor. I'm more a a turning kinda guy ;)

Does moshimoto make a FMIC for the MSP? Or did you have to buy the piping seperate?

It isn't specifically for the MSP, but it fits really good and I just bought pipe off of amazon until I get some nice stuff to be welded together. I also cut and re-enforced the front bumper bar to pull the IC up 2 inches so the whole IC is getting air and just not the top portion of it. I made it look like the IC is molded into the crash bar.

Sounds like you need a 3" down pipe :)

That's what my brother and I said as well. I'll be going for a re-tune once the new engine goes in, but I'll definitely suggest retarding the timing a bit at the top. The horsepower/tq pursuit was fun, and my car impressed/embarrased many people, but it's just not worth it.

My wife will be going back to work once both the kids are in school (1 yr), so I'm going to wait it out, then build a motor.

Just waiting on the POPE :) I got the last one and I'm on the bottom of the waiting list. It'll be going on the other motor with all the other goodies anyways.

Nice I got in on that buy too, couldnt pass that up. I'll need a 3" from there on back now though. It'll sit around till I get one

so no protege for a year?

I have a pipe bender if you son't want anything fancy, but you might as well just get a nice setup and do it the right way. I now need to have the Vibrant cut off where the J pip is at and have a flange welded on it toward the actual 3" part of the pipe.

Yeah theres not a whole lot of choices anymore, I'm keeping my eyes peeled on the FS sections for stuff, corksport also has a nice looking product

Nah, I'm gonna swap in the 626 engine this weekend. There's no way I could do that now that the car is so close to being complete.

Just no 12psi for a year, lol. When I go for the retune I'll get some new dyno numbers on low boost. I'm hoping for 190-200whp on 7psi.
