Hey guys, i wanna know the rundown in how to install the wastegate actuator, and how hard the job is. i got the part just trying to figure out how to install it, and what i got to take off to get to it. thanks!

It's been said on here that it can be done with the turbo on... I wouldn't try it... I can have the turbo removed and reinstalled in 30 minutes...

I did it with the turbo on and it was quite the pain in the ass. There will be some people on here that will tell you it can be done in under 30 minutes. But let me assure you unless you are extremely familiar with this car and have an abundance of tools on hand, it won't be a walk in the park.

I've had these cars/engines for the last 5 years, have multiple ASE certifications, and manage a shop, so yeah I might have an advantage...

I did it with the turbo on the car and it was my 1st time. Pain in the ads, but doable. I would wait til the weekend to do it just in case

I did it with the turbo on as well, reinstalling the c-clip was the hardest part. I had an extra set of hands from the top with me underneath.... took over an hour. Reason I did not remove the turbo, ran out of penetrating bolt loosener stuff.

I was just explaining that no matter your experience/resources, it is still a difficult project to do with the turbo on. I tried twice on my own and couldn't do it without the help of buddy (who is a mechanic). Even then, it took us over an hour with the turbo still connected. To make it as easy as possible, I was just recommending to do it without the turbo on and with someone with the necessary resources. And like destineal said, make it a weekend project in case you run into any hiccups. Good luck!

When I did mine, I just took the assembly off from the headers at the block up to the bolts between the jpipe and Spipe, then go buy yourself some new gaskets for the headers and between the J and S pipes and you should be fine.

Sucks because you have to drain/ deal with coolant though.

I also made it a weekend project, but was able to do it my self with the turbo off route.

I replaced mine by myself, it wasnt to bad just took a lot of attempts getting the c clip off... My car had 70k and never had the Actuator replaced.

Basically I just bought a long flat head screwdriver to push the clip off from underneath (when I did this I had my fingers holding the clip so I wouldn't loose it) trust me its hard to get your hands in the right position but don't give up if you get frustrated. After removing the clip I put in my new atp WGA and this was the hardest part.

To get the new Actuator back on the wg I put a 2 foot pry bar behind the wg lever to keep it in the closed position and I used a pair of pliers to get the rod reconnected.

Overall it took 2 hours alone with the turbo on. Not a hard job at all but with the turbo on it takes some patience... I am a mechanic so that also helps... Lol

If you need help send me a pm! Happy to walk anyone through the process

me and a friend did it with the turbo on. it wasnt THAT hard. the hardest part was trying to get the old wastegate out from under the mani and the new one in.

on your day off start in the morning and youll be done by 5 pm, just take everything off, swap every gasket you come across, clean everything you couldnt clean before and boom, youve got a clean ass turbo setup and a brand new wastegate and it only took you a day ;-)
