I aint even mad!
so last week I did front brakes, wasnt that bad
now im doing the rear.. and its a total b**** (i even managed to snap a bleed valve)

i cant for the LOVE of me seperate the caliper from the caliper bracket.. jesus christ its making my live hard
can those get away from eachother anyway? in the rear?

I just changed some brakes on a Hyundai to day and broke one of the bolts clean off took some searching but i found a replacement bolt. Breaker bar is my friend.

You could also just get a C clamp and push the piston all the way back i know ill get allot of flack for saying that but it works.

DO NOT DO THIS ON A PROTEGE

IT WILL DAMAGE THE REAR CALIPERS

BAD INFO FTMFL Man..

Take off the cap
Use an Allen Key to Relax the Adjuster and it will go in without any force at all (Or braking a part because you are a giant nOOb)

Correct. Study this photo:

Mazda Protege5 Rear Caliper Piston Mechanism by 616Nickel

See that bolt with the gear-head? If you push back the piston with a C-clamp, that will take all the load. Best case, the "star" mechanism (the vertical assembly) which snaps into the inside of the piston will pop out of its groove. That might help get the caliper off, but probably at the cost of having to disassemble the whole thing to get the mechanism re-seated. Worst case, you strip the bolt or its mating adjustment gear, or bend the parking-brake actuation pin at the upper right.

well i got mad @ my ******* rust bucket and gave up,
but then CheeseHelmet threw me a pm saying he could give me his old calipers... thank god
btw I did try pushing the rear calipers back with a c-clamp... didnt work at all................

thanks for the info brian & tweetie about c-clamps not working on rear calipers.. i'll know better next time
they are shot anyways.
