Hello every1 450hp evo monster sold! 03 MSP MY NEW PROJECT....

yeah preety much my buddy had an evo with a 35r 600ish hp it got rear ended while he was at a stop light dude destroyed it so he offered me what mine was worth since he has 10k in parts in his room from his old evo he bough mine and slapped all his goodies hes back up there in the 600s again lol im 23 live on my own and go to school i anly owed 5k on it so i payed of the evo payed off all my credit cards and had enough to pick up the msp so now i have no debt a payed of car that gets 30mpg lol and low insurance vs 300 for car payment 150 for insurance and debt.

Still wouldnt have done it but KUDOS MY BROTHER! HAHAHAH Smart kid for just being 23, besides grammar. JK hahah It always baffles me... People see a Lamborghini parked in front of a mansion, I SEE A "rich" dude with a CAR PAYMENT AND A MORTGAGE!! ROTFLMFAO!!! I have the joy of owning my MSP out right also. No payments. No debt. But i also dont believe in banks and credit cards.... IE. BANK OF AMERICA!!
 
im 23 and have a fully built MSP. LOL I could of saved up 5k more and bought a Evo but went with the MSP :P
 
I was daily driving my evo and that was a pain new fluidstranny diff acd etc the maintenace was ridiculous. Besides I was soo sick of the red color lol I really wanted a blck one I figured I can daily a msp and finish college and buy the rare tarmac black evo ix mr se .... only a few made

you should do tokico white struts on rb springs. Not very many people like the teins from what little I've read.
 
Ok so this Friday I'm throwing in magnecore wires even tho they don't do shiz lol new sparkplugs. New filter

What brand type plugs to u guys recomend and what size gap allso what motor oil weight and quarts does the msp use. Car didn't come with with manuals grrr.

I will allso be removeing and cleaning the eger and seafoam treatment to hopefully cure my horrible idle and cel
Ohh and ill be removeing the maf and cleaning it aswell...

Then its off to the race shop for custom intercooler greddy fmic custom intake and and fully ported and polished 626 mani powdercoated red and all of my intake protion of mods willl be done ?
Has any1 tried running a bigger tb from another model that will bolt up

You should do the 1.8L coil conversion instead of the mags. I think the gaps should be around .028-.032 or something like that. I've seen people port the throttle body and get a bigger butterfly to match the port. No noticeable gains though. Oil IIRC is just under 5 quarts. Many just do the 5 since it burns a little oil.
 
i am happy and all that you got an MSP, but let me tell you.
this little piece of s*** car will never compare to that eVO.
i don't care what people say and you will not only get bored quick but also frustrated.
you can bullet proof your engine cheap..but the tranny is gonna cost you at least 2-3K

not worth it IMO

should've kept the EVO.
MSP's are a waste of time.

no difference whatsoever from doing the 1.8 coils.

you are soending the money in the wrong places.
the 626 manifold won't do you any good unless you are boosting high.
concentrate of fixing the weak engine..pistons/rods/bearings

you are just slapping stuff on the motor that will make it blow faster.

The gear box is just about as fragile as the rods. Especially 3rd and the LSD. Thats okay though you can just get straight cut gears from PAR :p I think the MSP is prettier than any evo IMO. I know the 1.8L are just for looks but so are the mags.

Thanks for the info on the gaps and quarts but what weight? And the rule of thumb on evos was moe boost small ass gap hha we run .024 lol so more info on the gap I'm on stock boost don't plan on raising it anytime soon.....

1.8 coil what's the diff doesn't it use coilpacks just like the msp or are they individual coil on plug...

And trust me bro i am allready frustrated with its shity idle and cel iv owned a prtege lx and it was a great car after I had replaved everything on it lol...
I unerstand it will never be an evo and I have no plans to turn it into one althou evos wings are pure sex on a mazda have u guys seen them I have a few laing around too..

I bought this car because of its rareity and because of the mpg I was filling up the evo 3 times a week and I don't drive much... I filled up the msp last Friday and I still have half a tank I love it haha as for bullet proofing the motor I will once its time to rebuild it it only has 59k there's no need to open her up and deverginize her yet. I won't be pushing insane psi andi don't epect her to be fast just run properly here are the main eason for my mods

Custom intake and fmic setup
Oem ones are bad and will crack and most likely are cracked causeing my rough idle and the sidemount is garbage

Sprakplugs
Just bout the car have no idea if they hve ever been changed

Oil

Wires
Ehh **** it might aswell

Ported and polished intake 626 mani
Factory one has butterflys that can get stuck and egr that might be cloged simple solution swap it out for a 626 no butterflys with egr block plate

I'm just helping the motor recive cool and sufficent flow of air less strain on turbo sure a few hp but itle be because the motor is running more effecintly on stock psi.
 
The 1.8L coil kit takes the ugly packs off of the VC. Check out bikingpro5's build thread. SP gaps it might be between .024 and .032 someone else will have to chime in on that to confirm; I know it's small because forced induction. If you eliminate the EGR all together you'll throw a code. if you do that just cut the tube and put a breather on it and cap the exhaust side. The factory intake mani does have the flaps/butterflies, I took mine out and machined the runners a little bit. Spark plugs most people run NGK's.

Let's try not to make this a I hate my msp thread Alejo. Everyone goes through it once.
 
i'm not trying to create such thread, but lets be realistic..most of us have MSPs because rarity and cheapness.

and i hate it when someone come sin and everyone starts tell them all the great things about the car but fail to mention what they really need to know about the car.

59K miles is not bad for a rebuilt.
just make sure you keep low expectations with this car and you'll be fine.
heck, i would NEVER sell my MP3..but do i tell people is the best s*** in the world? no.
it has its quirks and i love that about it...you never know whats going to break next and that's a challenge!

so, i'm happy you jumped in, just please..don't be discouraged when the s*** blows or your car won't start for no reason whatsoever.
this is a pretty car with problems.
treat it as such and it will treat you nice.
 
Haha wow just saw ur comment comparing the evo and msp looks the evo was built for one purpose only to race and to win the most functional things aren't allways the preetiest haha...

Msp have no lines no curves just giant fogs

Show me a msp that can compare to the sexiness of the cyber evo

Or a voltex street evo lol ..

Bottom line I like the fact I can drive my msp right pass a cop and they don't even notice me what I do hate is the million hondas reving me up acting hard haha atlast I got respect in the evo they wouldn't even look at me m3s vetts cobras etc were all evo food I do feel like I just got castrated in the msp scion toasters are faster haha.. but w.e ill buy another evo one day in the near future and keep her parkd and drive and abuse the s*** out of the msp till she spills her guts on the rod lol
