Fishdonotbounce's 2008.5 CWP Speed3 GT "Build" Thread

Hey, dawg! How many Corvettes have you whooped lately?

ps- I'm loving the new wheels. Even more than your white ones...

Lol well it was a C4 convertible but fun nonetheless haha. That picture actually came out better than I thought! We'll have to take a much better one soon.

I realized that I haven't really updated the thread. Pictures will come Tuesday when I'm back at the apartment but for now, here's the update.

Brake pads and lines haven't arrived yet due to StopTech having an inventory problem. CR3 has been extremely helpful and communicative throughout the process so that's great. I hope that they come in time for me to swap in for the autocross on June 3rd but if not, no biggie. I purchased Wilwood 570 fluid and Russell speed bleeders to complete the package.

I signed up for the Toledo autocross on June 3rd and the Geauga Lake one on July 1st. Very excited to do my first couple of events. I bought my G-Force Eliminator helmet in white. Snell SA2010 for the win.

I also purchased 17x8 +47 Drag DR-38 wheels in silver from discounttiredirect. I bought 235/45-17 Continental SportContact 2 tires with 90% tread for $300 from a gentleman who sold his Audi S6. The total weight of the setup is 40.5 lbs. 18.4 lbs for the wheels and 22.1 lbs for the tires.

I also purchased an Eonon D5102 DVD/Navi/everything head unit. It looks very OEM, has surprisingly good fit and most importantly is about half the weight of the stock head unit. I figure that the weight savings is good for a tenth or two on the autocross course.

Pics of everything to come so please bear with me.

You sure you dont want to start in another class?

I ran SMF with the supercharger. Most the guys that I know run slicks in SMF here.

I can't. The downpipe alone raises the boost without a tune and with all the other modifications, I'm stuck in SMF. I won't be competitive in any way and I know it. It'll just be for experience and fun :)

You'll be in the novice class and competing against other novices, so you'll be fine iniitally.

I always have more fun with a codriver. Because then if you aren't competitive in your class at least you have someone else to compete against.

Ivan and I are both newbs and in the same class so we can compete with each other. :)

This weekend, buddy!

Excellent! You guys making the trip out in the AM?

How in the wide world of sports does a Speed3 and a P5 end up in the same class? That is just wrong!

Well I've got too many mods right now, which is fine since I never planned on building my car for auto-x. But they will still be in the same class with the turbo KL too.

Well... you could have no mods, but pulling the interior out would have put you directly into that class anyway.
