The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Ok now I'm confused. Am I in STU or SM? If I read it correctly, I have everything to be in STU?

EDIT: Nevermind, I believe I am in SM. The downpipe and subsequent boost increase with it and the tune puts me out of STU.

None at all....once I c-notched the frame and had all that travel back. LOL

And yea, the inline-5 with a Magnaflow and intake was a pretty unique sound!

Bingo. Yeah, any time you do anything that has the potential to raise the boost, it's instant SM.

If the tune ups boost, then yes, SMF. If it doesn't alter the boost map, STX. The downpipe is legal.

Sounds like you got it figured out Ivan but just for reference for anyone else the MS3 is in STX (with ST legal mods of course) this year for the first time. Previously it was in STU.

Evan, I'll take that corral ticket from you too. I think I need 5 tickets total and haven't purchased any except the 2 I already got from you.

So Josh, Ivan and I have been meeting up at Menchies Frozen Yogurt in Fairlawn at 8pm for their frozen deliciousness and I thought it would be cool to invite the rest of the Mazda and extended family if anyone wants to come hang out. We park in the parking lot near the road and just hang out, eat frozen yogurt and BS. Kinda like Superfly but way better. I understand a lot of people are busy Friday nights but I just figured I'd throw out the invite to anyone. :)

And if you've never been to Menchies, get hip to it. Josh got me turned onto it a couple weeks ago and I'm hooked fo sho!

My fiancee and I love Menchies. There are a couple out by us that we frequent. I'm positive I can bribe her with Menchies at some point and make it out to one of these.

Sounds good on both accounts, Will. So $100 and I'll bring all three thickets to Mid-Ohio Friday morning. Thanks! :)

Wait so a catless downpipe is legal in ST as long as it doesn't alter boost levels? From what I read, you have to be within emissions regulations and everything in the rules talks about what type of cats you're allowed to have. I'm in SM either way but I just wanted to clarify the downpipe thing.

I'm in SMF as well but after the KL swap then turbo, will I still be in SMF?

My wife and I bought a house! With a 2.5 car detached garage! Woot woot! No more going to my friend's place where everything is missing and broken and loaned out when I need it!

edit: And on Sunday I won 1st place in the novice class auto-xing with the Cincy SCCA!

Congrats on both!!!!

And if you guys are bored, check out this old vid of me/us in the Colorado scene. Some textbook Josue (and Stephers with short hair) action in there, our origins! hahaha

14.10 D & E:

D. Exhaust manifolds and headers (including downpipes) may be replaced
with alternate units. Mounting brackets/hardware which serve
no other purpose are considered part of the exhaust components.

E. Catalytic Converters - Any high flow catalytic converter(s) are allowed,
but must attach within six inches of the original unit. Multiple
catalytic converters may be replaced by a single unit. The inlet of the
single replacement converter may be located no further downstream
than 6 along the piping flow path from the original exit of the final
OE converter.

The new downpipe just replaces one of the cats right? If you still have one it should be legal in ST technically per section E.

I believe you will still be in SMF...

The downpipe replaces one and the Cobb exhaust replaces the other. Unless the Cobb has a cat that I didn't know it had.

I would say that the DP replaces 20-50X and the Cobb exhaust is cat-back aka everything from 20-55X back. Does that sound right?

It's not legal in any state to have no cats is it?

yes, you're right, and as far as I know it's not legal in any state.

I've updated the site with info for Mid Ohio so feel free to share. Also, I've added the videos that Marlon mentioned to the ZM-FR-ZM channel on the player, you can check those out. I'd like to ask from the people who have video of them running at any track to either please send me a link where I can download it or a youtube link so I can add it to our channel as well.

Wow, Peaches, the site looks really good. You should advertise it more. Are you allowed to put it in your sig?

I dunno, I'm not selling anything but there is "advertisement" for a non-authorized vendor... I usually do it on facebook and I'm going to start doing it on the blog. I'm getting into a more productive routine and trying to keep up with everything but I still need to add some content.
