could a mazdaspeed protege????

Such ricer talk. Look at the SCCA Nationals results from the last decade. No matter how well you set up a car, and no matter how much money you throw at the wrong platform, it will never beat the Evos and STIs at the top. Top dragsters, all RWD. Top TT cars, AWD/RWD. WRC: AWD>RWD>FWD.

Did you really just post that an rwd is better for rally than fwd? Ever driven a RWD on ice?

I personally think rwd is the most fun but, I'm a lil fascinated with drifting. I remember reading an article some where about an msp beating a corvette on a salalom and coming in 1~ second slower on a road course against an Sti.

I've outrun a Porsche on a back road in my mp3 the one thing we do have is superior handling. Add a few bolt ons and an msp should have no problem taking down an evo in autocross

In the twisties, I can overtake a lot of cars- a lot of more expensive cars. I go on rides with a group here locally and it consists of a lot of Zs. Our last Dragon run last year, every 350 let me pass because I was a lot faster. The only car that I couldn't overtake (I don't mean pass, just make it through faster) was a Nismo 370Z owned by a guy who worked for Nissan on the corporate level in Franklin, TN that had a metric **** ton of modifications done to it. There are a lot of great, curvy backroads here in Tennessee and Jalopnik listed East Tennessee as the number one pick for best roads for drivers just a couple of days ago. And managing a European shop has afforded me the opportunity to drive some very expensive, high horsepower cars spiritedly and I haven't found a car that I like more than the MSP. I've literally driven thosands and thousands of miles on these roads and being a Mazda fan, is what prompted me to get the MSP. Sure it's slow as frozen dog s*** in a straight line, but I can't tell you how many performance cars I've left on these backroads with ease. My suspension is only lightly modified with Tokico Illuminas which I have set on the firmest setting, but for a FWD it kicks some ass in the twisties. In the winter I spend hours straight on the Dragon because it's practically empty. I've got hours of video of me chasing bikes and of course on the straights they walk away from me, but when I get in the turns, I've got to slow it down or run them over. It is what it is... It's becomeing a dated bodystyle with low power and low reliability, but there are some things it does very well- Take corners quickly, seat my 3 year old daughter, and get my groceries. I opted for the MSP over an RX8 and a 350Z. Most people wouldn't, but the car is a blast to drive and that's why I own it. Driving is my favorite thing to do. I've gone on a couple of job interviews in the past few years and when I'm asked what I like to do I always reply with, "Drive". I have hours and hours of video of me driving that I'll just sit at home and watch, so I can see what I'm doing wrong and improve it. My friends and girlfriend think I'm crazy, but it's what makes me happy. The camera I was using had a lot better sound quality and you can hear me laugh or hear me make a noise and I can tell you exactly what I did whether it be battling understeer, dipping off the edge of the road, sliding the rear end around a corner (that's my favorite to do in my FWD), coming into a corner too fast, or perfectly exiting a corner... Enough rambling.

Haha is your main focus on this forum to follow Brian around and question and challenge every single thing he says?

Msp's are slow this has been noted. You just have to realize that these threads pop up all the time from new msp owners. They think wow cheap cool turbocharged car, but what they don't know is it's a trap lol

AND I KNOW THERE NOT FAST IM NOT STUPID JUST LIKE THE CAR!! IT WAS JUST A COMMENT

My brothers had a hard time with them if they had any kind of mods but he had a cai and exhaust untuned. I've read they lose power if you do something and don't tune them.

Clever frog- some of them yes. But I was referring to the eagle talon/ eclipse gsx.

This thread got way off topic. Especially with grammar police

I get what you are saying and I agree if you want a championship autocross or track car you won't do it in FWD but as you can tell nobody here has or wants that.

any car that you do /add power mods to with no tune loose power i would think.

I'm helping my buddy fix up and mod his 05 Cobalt SS/SC and I must say I'm not impressed. The car has plenty of power and you can tell lots of potential but at this point with just a modded stock air box I walk all over him in my MSP.
