Anyone haul a kayak on their P5?

For those who do, how do you do so with the roof-mounted antenna? If/when I get a P5, I'd like to think I could use it for hauling my kayak around, but I've always been curious how or even if it's able to be done with a roof antenna.

Any pics or recommendations, roof rack kayak-hauling kits that maybe hold the kayak high enough that it misses the antenna (at least if you have a stubby antenna installed)?

Thanks.

The antenna unscrews, you can still receive some stations without an antenna.

I have,a 3" carbon fiber antenna, its is ALMOST flush with the roof rack cross bars....i think it would work just fine. Cost me $5 on ebay. Or like codex said, just unscrew the oem antenna when hauling a kayak.

I usually strap 2 kayaks to the crossbars of my Yakima rack. Never had any issue with the antenna, but it may depend on the boat I guess. Also, the antenna is pretty flexible up there, not like an old aluminum one or something. I've had 4 boats on mine at once and the oem antenna didn't get damaged...

P5zac, you have a link for the antenna you got on ebay?
I dont have the link but do a search for mazda protege5 carbon fiber antenna, should bring it up. It is a universal antenna that comes with all the different thread type screws to make it work on most vehicles. Fut the protege5 perfectly.

found it, thanks..

Late to the party but......

I kayak quite a bit, previous posters hit all the points. I use Thule J hooks and the kayaks don't even come near the antenna. Also I have squeezed a 3rd yak between the J hooks over top the antenna. Because it's so flexible it's a non issue.
